Black Ice Contributes to 8 a.m. Crash
By The Union Staff
Authorities respond to a rollover Thursday morning on Nevada City Highway, below Banner Lava Cap Road. Cora Ann Shreve Hendricks, 52, of Grass Valley, suffered minor injuries after her Ford Explorer struck a patch of black ice, hit an embankment and rolled while driving slower than the 35-mph speed limit, according to California Highway Patrol Officer David Qualls. She was wearing a seat belt, and her son drove her to Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital to get treatment for a cut left elbow, Qualls said. The Nevada County Consolidated and Grass Valley fire departments responded with Sierra Nevada Ambulance to the 8 a.m. crash. (Photo by John Hart)
