A Rocklin woman was injured in a two-car crash Tuesday on Highway 49 at Lime Kiln Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Velma I. Waller, 68, was flown to Sutter Roseville Medical Center, where a supervising nurse listed her in fair condition. She suffered a compound fracture of her ankle, a broken clavicle and chest and abdominal pain, said Nevada County Consolidated Fire Capt. Jerry Funk.
At 12:50 p.m., according to the CHP, Waller was northbound in a 1999 Chevy Malibu, which struck a 1999 Toyota Camry driven by 18-year-old Erick M. Degner of Grass Valley.
Degner was turning left onto southbound Highway 49, but he didn't have enough clearance, CHP Officer Troy Marks said. Degner refused treatment at the scene. Both drivers' air bags deployed in the crash.
Lights have been installed at the intersection but not turned on. Caltrans officials have said they're waiting for dry weather to finish the job.
