A Grass Valley driver was cited with driving under the influence of alcohol after rolling his vehicle Monday on Rough and Ready Highway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
James Franklin Thompson, 53, was arrested on suspicion of DUI and released to Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital for treatment of a sore neck, back and leg, CHP Officer C.W. Garrison said.
A supervising nurse said Thompson was treated and released.
At 1:40 p.m., Garrison said, Thompson was heading eastbound, east of South Ponderosa Way, when his Jeep Wagoneer drifted to the right side of the road and struck a drainage culvert, causing the vehicle to roll twice before landing on its tires in the eastbound lane.
Garrison said Thompson showed signs of being impaired by alcohol at the crash scene. It wasn't known if Thompson was wearing a seat belt.
