Woman Injured in Crash
By Doug Mattson
A Grass Valley woman distracted by a fallen CD case caused a rear-end crash that injured the other driver Tuesday, according to the California Highway Patrol.
At 11:30 a.m. on southbound Highway 49 south of McKnight Way, a Dodge Ram pickup driven by Barbara J. Ryan, 36, rear-ended a Ford LTD driven by Angela J. Satterfield-Stewart, 45, of Penn Valley, according to CHP spokesman Troy Marks.
Ryan looked up too late after reaching for the case, locked her brakes, and skidded into the LTD, he added. Traffic was slowed at the time because of congestion caused by the Gap Fire.
Satterfield-Stewart went by ambulance to Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital, where she was treated for neck, back and ankle pain, then released.
