Crash Ties Up Highway 20
By David Mirhadi
A two-vehicle accident briefly tied up traffic along the westbound lanes of Highway 20 Wednesday morning, causing minor injuries, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The 9:55 a.m. accident occurred on westbound Highway 20 west of the Ponderosa Way overcrossing as 19-year-old Heather Danielson of Nevada City, who was driving a Dodge Neon in the slow lane, was passed by a gravel truck.
The truck made an unsafe lane change in front of Danielson's car, which forced her off the road and into the guardrail, according to the CHP. Witnesses said the driver of the gravel truck, who was not identified by the CHP, never stopped.
"The driver of the truck may not have even known that this happened," said CHP officer Troy Marks.
The accident slowed traffic for several minutes as crews worked to move the car from the roadway, he said.
Danielson, who complained of pain, refused medical treatment at the scene.
