Two Nevada County teens were injured after their car smashed into a tree outside of Nevada City Tuesday night.
The male passenger went by helicopter to Sutter Roseville Medical Center with a broken right leg, extensive facial cuts and possible head injuries from the 7:55 p.m. crash on Pittsburgh Road, said Officer Chuck Dunbar of the California Highway Patrol.
The female driver went by ambulance to Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital with a possible broken leg and possible internal injuries.
There were no skid marks where the late-model Audi left Pittsburgh Road while heading northbound, just north of Pittsburgh Mine Road, and struck the pine tree.
The passenger wasn't wearing a seat belt, and his head smashed into the windshield, Dunbar said.
The boy went by ambulance to Ridge and Gold Flat roads in Nevada City to meet a CALSTAR helicopter.
Nevada County Consolidated and Nevada City fire crews also responded, along with Sierra Nevada Ambulance, the Sheriff's Office and Nevada City police.
