A 77-year-old Yuba City man was injured in a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of Idaho-Maryland and Brunswick roads Tuesday morning, the California Highway Patrol reported.

On Monday night, three people were hurt in a two-vehicle crash near the same intersection.

In Tuesday's crash, Richard Sutter was injured as he drove eastbound on Idaho-Maryland into the intersection and was struck by Bruce Shellaway, 52, of Grass Valley, who was approaching Idaho-Maryland from northbound Brunswick, CHP spokesman Troy Marks said.

The impact of the crash, reported at about 8 a.m., sent Sutter's vehicle into a car driven by Frederick Fisher, 39, of Nevada City, who was stopped in the eastbound lane of Idaho-Maryland approaching the intersection. The impact of the crash sent Sutter's car into a fence on Idaho-Maryland, Marks said.

Sutter was taken to Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital and later transferred to Sutter Roseville Medical Center, where a nursing supervisor said he was in serious condition with a head injury.

Monday's crash occurred on an icy stretch of Idaho-Maryland east of Brunswick at about 9:50 p.m.

An eastbound Dodge pickup driven by Michael LaBranch, 41, of Nevada City collided with a westbound Dodge pickup driven by John Allan Baker, 57, of Nevada City, Marks said.

LaBranch and Baker's passengers - 56-year-old Joanne Baker and an 8-year-old boy - went by ambulance to Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital. All three were treated and released, a supervising nurse said.
