Two children strapped into car seats were hospitalized for observation after a collision on Highway 49 at Alta Sierra Drive during a homeward commute Wednesday.
Both went by ambulance to Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital. One had stomach pain, Nevada County Consolidated Engineer Rob Penn said.
The collision occurred around 5:20 p.m. between a Plymouth van, which was carrying the children, and a Chevy pickup. The California Highway Patrol wasn't immediately available for further information.
