joined the navy, seen the world form a
cruise ship, painted gray. did get to see a lot of
interesting places during those couple of years. came
back to SLO, got a job with a friend who i raced
motocross with. he started me in my plastering
profession. worked slowed in the late 70's, so started
college. used my GI bill. ended up at chico st. in the
computer sci. program. went for a benifit motocross race,
broke my leg. had some complications with the break.
decided to quit college and travel to australia. traveled
around the continent for awhile. came back to SLO,
didn’t feel like plastering, so moved to alaska.
left with a sea bag and caught a ferry in WA.. was
dropped off in skagway ak. and hiched hiked through
alaska and the yukon terr.. talk about hard rides!!!
finally ended up in homer ak., took a ferry to kodiak.
found a job fishing, a place to stay, and met my wife to
be. all on the first night there. fished and crabbed in
alaska, yes it is very simallar to the movie perfect
storm. married, fishing started slowing. harder to make a
dollar, and decided to move to OR.. have lived in oregon
for 10 years. recently divorced, my 12 year old lives
with me and the 15 year old lives with his mother. i race
cars on the weekends and run my plastering business
everyday. am a very proud parent of an honor role
student. nothing like his dad but, i think i will keep
that a secret from him for now. he’s getting ready
to start racing motocross. |
