EIHEIJI - JAPAN
Eiheiji ( means Eternal Peace ) is located about 10 km east of Fukui City in Fukui prefecture, Japan. Eiheiji was etablished in 1244 by Dogen Zenji who studied Buddhism in China and introduced Soto Zen Buddhism to Japan. It is one of two main temples of the Soto sect of Zen Buddhism and the main training temple of Soto Zen. The standard training for a priest in Eiheiji is a two year period of practice.
