HWAOMSA - KOREA
Hwaomsa is located in the southwest area of Mt.Jirisan (Jeolla.) It is the most famous and representative temples in Jirisan. Built beside Masan Stream, in 554 by Priest Yeongi Chosa, it was later expanded by Priests Uisang Taesa and Toseon Kuksa. It burned to the ground during Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1592, and were all rebuilt during the Joseon Period. The stone lanterns and pagodas survived with little damage during this period.
