SUDEOKSA - KOREA


Sudeoksa is located in Yesan, Chungcheongnam. It is surrounded by Mt. Gayasan in the east, Mt. Ohseosan in the west, and Mt. Yongbongsan in the southeast and soars high into the city. The temple was created in the Baekje period (554-597). It is well-known for main temple of the Korean Zen Buddhism. The temple preserves the oldest wooden building in the country, a main hall dating from 1308. It is one of the oldest wooden buildings in Korea . There is also a 16th century hermitage higher in the hills .
