Where to Now?
John Zhou

Back to the days when I lived in heaven,
my future was always bright.
The vast fields of dandelions in front of me was flat and even,
nothing could have matched that sight.

Yet an ominous cloud loomed in the horizon,
Frightened yet curious, I ran forward to see.
I was careless; I did not see what I stepped on,
for the earth had swallowed me.

Desperately, I flailed my arms in vain,
There was only one thought on my mind,
If I can't get back I'm going to go insane.
Alas, Lady Luck will never be so kind.

I shrank, I sank, deeper into the unforgiving morass,
my future becoming darker than the void that surrounds me.
My memory muddles and I can only remember that caress,
back in the fields of heaven, where I still longed to be.
