Basic Space Clearing Procedures

Preparation

Each space is different and thus has different requirements, but there are a few basic procedures that form the foundation for all Space Clearing work.

1. Do not attempt Space Clearing if you feel any fear or apprehension. These techniques are perfectly safe and are designed for personal everyday use, but not for the purposes of exorcism – leave that to trained professionals.

2. Obtain permission before doing Space Clearing in someone else’s personal space.

3. Perform Space Clearing only when you feel physically fit and healthy, emotionally centered, and mentally focused.

4. It is sometimes recommended that you not perform Space Clearing if you are pregnant, menstruating, or have an open flesh wound. There are various reasons for these recommendations, some of which have little or no basis, and some that might give pause for thought. Be your own judge in matters like this.

5. For best results, first physically clean and straighten up the space, sweeping, mopping or vacuuming as needed, and clearing out any clutter.

6. Put food and drink away in cupboards or sealed containers.

7. Work alone unless any other people who are present fully understand what you are doing.

Timing

The Best Time to Perform Space Clearing is when you have (1) the motivation, (2) adequate energy, and (3) will not be disturbed. Daylight hours are considered more auspicious because more Qi is available. Choose a time when you are not likely to be disturbed by neighbors.

Do not perform Clearing in your own space just before you go on a holiday as you will not be there to receive the full benefit of the process. For the same reason, your clients should plan on staying around after the Clearing.

The length of time it takes to Space Clear your home depends very much on how big it is, how much clutter is in it, what has happened in the space in the past, and whether you naturally work at a quick pace or prefer to go more slowly. On the average, allow an hour for a one- or two-bedroom home and correspondingly more time for larger places. It is best to keep up a brisk pace so that the energy doesn’t have a chance to congeal again before the process is completed.
