Since it's founding in 1991, the Kappa Lambda Chapter of Chi Omega has had an immense impact on Greek life on campus at the University of California, San Diego. We have quickly become one of the strongest houses at UCSD (34 new members this fall!!), priding ourselves on the strength of our genuine sisterhood and our commitment to our campus and our community.
Our annual philanthropic event, Tug-O-War, occurs during the Fall Quarter. This exciting day-long competition incorporates the entire Greek system and all the athletic teams at UCSD and includes a raffle, barbecue and a live DJ. All proceeds benefit our national philanthropy, the Make*A*Wish Foundation!
Kappa Lambda Chi O's are some of the most well rounded ladies in San Diego!! They spend their time cleaning beaches, tutoring, giving campus tours, volunteering at convalescent homes, walking for the cure, leading class sections as Teacher's Assistants, studying abroad (Chile, Spain, London, Italy, Sweden, just to name a few!!) playing on an NCAA team, founding the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, singing in gospel choirs, serving on Associated Students, cheerleading, dancing, being Logistical Director of the Excel Leadership Conference, performing in numerous plays and musicals, riding horses as part of the Equestrian Team, and of course, doing what UCSD students do best: studying!
It's no surprise that we were honored for our achievements in the Greek community in 1998 and 1999 by winning Chapter of the Year. We also have had some of our members named Greek Woman of the Year and Greek Athlete of the Year. Last year we also achieved the highest GPA for all sororities. Kappa Lambda has grown to be one of the largest houses at UCSD, with a sincere sisterhood and dedication to academia, leadership, and improving our community and campus. We are looking forward to another great year!!! Rho Beta!
