How to Create an Atmosphere for
Communication
1.
Obviously, some students will not respond to any atmosphere
because of psychological issues and may need counseling before any progress can
be made.
2.
However, some students just need an open friendly environment in
which to work. Here are some steps to
creating a healthy speaking environment:
a.
Explain why
discussion atmospheres are so important
b.
Lead a discussion in a friendly, non-judging manner
c.
Sometimes prompt students before class that you will call on them
for an answer
d.
Break into small groups to discuss a question before going to a
larger group.
These steps were taken from here and here, please refer to them for more information.
