Game Review

Hesperia Christian faced off against Bethel Christian in a battle of two second place Agape teams and HCS came out on top 86-44. The height and defensive pressure of the Patriot boys overwhelmed the Eagles of Bethel Christian. HCS had 26 steals, their second highest number of steals this season. All but one player this game had steals. HCS shot phenomenally tonight from the two point field goal range (73%) and the free throw line (78%). Only their three point game was off tonight as it has been for the last four out of five games. Junior Josh Hamilton again led the Patriots in scoring with 18 points while senior Aja Ajanwachuku was right behind him with 16 points. Senior Aaron Garcia also had a great game tonight with 10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 steals. In fact, every Patriot tonight got into the scoring column. Bryan Glass tied Garcia in pulling down 6 rebounds also. Josh Hamilton, Jesse McDonald, and Danny Marriott were all perfect from the charity line. Bryant Baum, Loren Barton and Aaron Garcia were all perfect shooting two point field goals at 1/1, 4/4 and 5/5 respectively. It was truly a team effort in the victory as everyone got assists and backed each other up defensively. Trevor Wagstaffe and Aja Ajanwachuku led the team in assists with 4 and 5 respectively. Bethel Christian had Tim Zierman, Mark Green and Josh Thies all getting 11 points each. Bethel Christian now falls to 4-6 (1-2) while HCS is now 11-6 (2-1). HCS plays Joshua Springs Friday at Yucca Valley at 7:30 PM.

Game Preview

Hesperia Christian, coming off a heart wrenching loss to cross town rival, Apple Valley Christian has a chance to get back on the winning effort in their game Tuesday night against visiting Bethel Christian. HCS is in second place in the Agape League behind Apple Valley Christian. CIF ranks the Patriots #6 in the first Div VAA poll. Bethel Christian is also tied with HCS for second place in the Agape League with a 1-1 conference record. Bethel's overall record is 4-5 with losses to Antelope Valley Christian, Trona Vasquez twice and South Bay Lutheran. They beat Victor Valley Christian in OT last week. Junior guard Tim Zierman and Josh Thies are the two top stars and shooters to watch. Bethel's main problem is lack of height and HCS should be able to take advantage of that to beat Bethel on Tuesday. Bethel is ranked #16 in the first Socal Hoops Div VA poll.
