Game Review

Agape second place team, Hesperia Christian solidified their league position by beating Antelope Valley Christian 80-67 at Hesperia. The Patriots were led by junior Josh Hamilton and his career high 33 points. The Patriots jumped out to a 25-12 first quarter lead and never gave it up. Patriot leading scorer Aja Ajanwachuku had 16 points shooting 50% FG range to go with his 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals. Jesse McDonald had 4 blocked shots this evening along with 11 points and eight rebounds. Defensive pressure by the Patriots again proved to be very successful as HCS got 17 steals this game. HCS completely dominated the first half. The only real flaw in this game was HCS' inability to stop Antelope Valley Christian's big man, Chris Eun who got 24 points and many rebounds. Failure to stop a big man like Apple Valley Christian's Justin Nunes or the big men that HCS will face in the CIF playoffs will spell trouble for the Patriots. HCS is now solidly in second place in the Agape League with a conference record of 5-1. HCS has their big league showdown Tuesday at Apple Valley.

Game Preview

Hesperia Christian will face the third place Eagles of Antelope Valley Christian this Friday night in Hesperia. HCS is now 4-1 and alone in second place in the Agape League coming off a lackluster win against Victor Valley Christian on Friday night. Last time Antelope Valley Christian and HCS met, HCS handed the Eagles one of their only two losses in league, 93-63. Although it was a great offensive game for the Patriots, defensively HCS did not do as well as they can. The Patriots allowed Eagle star Jeremiah Nurse to get 19 points, Ronnie Thompson 16 points and Chris Eun 20 points. Eun got his points right under the basket much as Apple Valley's Justin Nunes also did against HCS. HCS will be led by Aja Ajanwachuku with his 19 PPG and Josh Hamilton with his 18 PPG. This game will also be a good opportunity for Loren Barton to continue to develop his dominance underneath the basket against a good big man in Eun. Jesse McDonald the Patriots leader continues to lead the team by example with his topping most team stats. Trevor Wagstaffe must again defend Nurse and prevent him from having a 30 point game which Nurse is fully capable of having. CIF ranks the Patriots #10 in the third Div VAA poll.
