Hesperia Christian played a tough game against Div IV Brethren Christian in the second round Santa Maria VCA Holiday tournament game but ended up losing 68-63. HCS had a very cold first quarter getting behind 20-12. By the half the Patriots were behind 34-27. In the third quarter, HCS came out on fire and played their best quarter so far this season beating the Warriors 22-9 taking a 49-43 lead into the fourth quarter. Brethren Christian came out with an intensity to win HCS had not seen this season. The Patriots did hold Brethren Christian's two stars, Bryon Jefferson and Andrew Fisher below their season averages but two Warrior role players, Chris Bodziak and Chris King scored well above their scoring averages to help Brethren Christian pull out their ninth win in ten outings. Major failings tonight were the inability to stop Brethren Christian's inside game and poor rebounding along with several critical missed free throws in the fourth quarter.
