Webmaster's Pre- Season Division VAA Poll 2003-2004

Rank School Record Comments
1Upland Christian1-2 (0-0)Led by senior Jake Garcia, an all-CIF guard but loss of Nick Roberds will hurt this team badly// Garcia scored 31 points in their 1st game//lost to Webb
2Apple Valley Christian3-0 (0-0)#2 all last season//will play to either win or tie for Agape championship this year//only losses last year to Marian Chr & South Hills and RHP//Nunes is their go-to guy//Will need to get way better defensively tho to compete in playoffs this year//their two summer wins over HCS predicate their being in second place now
3Hesperia Christian2-1 (0-0)Lost in qtrfinals of playoffs to Rolling Hills Prep, one of only three losses in 2003//lost two starters in McDonald and Ajanwachuku//will depend on Trevor Wagstaffe (a top assist maker), Josh Hamilton ( one of best three point shooter and FT shooters in Socal) and Loren Barton (one of top shot blockers in Socal)//tm averaged almost 20 steals a game last season//tm can shoot threes when they need to//newcomers to team will provide more depth than last year//6' 4" Frosh Sean Bayer and junior 6' 5" Nate Glass bring some more height to a tall DVAA team//Sophs 6' Billy Hague 6' Mike Peterson and 6' Zach Howard provide even more height and shooting skills to this team// when this team is playing on all cylinders they may be unbeatable
4New Roads3-1 (0-0)Solid tm with solid players//all five starters return//will finish third or fourth in the toughest league in Div V//question is whether they can beat Price, Rolling Hills Prep, and Ribet Academy//team to avoid in the playoffs//lost to Windward/TD>
5Rolling Hills Prep0-0 (0-0)Would have been concensus number one ranked tm in DVAA but for the losses of Allen and Wright//Solid team used to winning// lost DJ Wright in transfer to Compton Dominquez which will be a big loss to the Huskies and lost Curtis Allen to Long Beach Poly//they always play above their division and will do very well against Div V teams except for Price//Must stop their one DI college-bound player Jason Daley and Kris Stringer
6Holy Martyrs0-1 (0-0)Team is always tough and very cohesive//on any given game any of the five starters can be top scorer//they will be battle tested in a tough league
7Pacific Hills1-3 (0-0)Lost in DVAA semis to Apple Valley Christian//Loss of Frank Henry Ala to Price is huge loss to the team//Lost to Blair in Campbell Hall Tourney
8Hillcrest Christian (Granada Hills)3-1 (0-0)Always a strong team. Many say they should be ranked in top three. Still need to prove they belong there. Drew Rigney is clearly the glue that keeps this team going...he's good for about 25-30 points a night
9Ribet Academy1-0 (0-0)Seems like a good team but they never get far in the playoffs despite great play in their league. Of course it helps to play tougher teams than Village Gen West 114-12
10Lone Pine0-0 (0-0)Seems like a good team but they never get any competition except from AAE during the season

Other teams to watch:
Laguna Blanca 0-1; Whitewater, Valley Torah, La Sierra Academy 1-0
