320. John Niswanger

John Nyswanger's will


In the name of God Amen, I John Nyswanger of Montgomery County & State of Ohio being sick and weak in body, but of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding and being desirous to settle my worldly affairs do therefore make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following, to wit -- That after my debts and funeral expenses are paid, I devise and bequeath as follows-- that is to say-- I give and devise unto my son George Nyswanger all that quarter section of land we now live on in fee simple, and I give and bequeath unto said George one wagon, two horses, two collars, two pair trace chains, two blindbridles, two pair hems and the bretchbands for two horses, one windmill, all the hogs, two sheep, one heifer, two ploughs with their hons?, two corn hoes , one mattock, one shovel and one pitchfork and said George is to pay unto my grand daughter Rachel Rife thirty dollars, twenty of which he has borrowed of me and ten more he shall add to make the said thirty dollars and the said George shall at his own expense during my life time furnish me in the house we now live in, in clothing, boarding, washing and lodging sufficiently in sickness and in health, and it is also my desire that after my decease that said George shall deliver unto my executor hereinafter named the following described property such parts thereof that he uses he shall make as good as they were at his mother's death namely. four bed ticks with feathers in them, two feather bolsters, two coverlets, one counterpane, two bedsteads, one table, one checkreel, three trace chains, two backbands, two hipstraps, two blend bridly, two belly bands, two collars, two pair hens, two halter chains with their collars, one log chain, one trunk, one kettle, one pot, one skillet, one hatchet, one pair steelyards, one pair stretchers, one bible, three books, one pewter dish, one pewter gallon measure, one stone jug, one handsaw and one drawing knife, all of which or the price for them to be equally divided among my four sons, Jacob, David, Samuel & John Nyswanger, and all the money that may remain after my debts and funeral expenses are paid shall be equally divided among my said four sons, Jacob, David, Samuel & John Nyswanger. Jacob has borrowed of me one hundred and thirty five dollars. David has borrowed of me one hundred and ninety two dollars, Samuel has borrowed of me ninety nine dollars and John has borrowed of me twenty nine dollars and it shall be the duty of my executor hereinafter named, that the described money my said four sons borrowed and the other money that may be left after my debts and funeral expenses are paid and the described property said George is o deliver unto my executor shall be understood so that every of the aforesaid sons Jacob, David, Samuel & John Nyswanger shall have an equal share. If they cannot agree in dividing the aforesaid property, then let it be sold and divide the money therefor which with I have already given them shall be their portion in full of my estate--unto my daughters Barbara Ferrel, Elizabeth Harnsbarger & Susannah Swank, I have given their part that was coming to them of my estate.
I do hereby set and to farm let unto my grandson Lewis Stewart all that quarter section of land said Lewis and his brothers and sisters now live on for the term of seventeen years from the date hereof and the said Lewis shall not clear more than fifty acres on it nor destroy any timber more than may be needed for the benefit of said quarter section and said Lewis shall give Elizabeth Stewart house room as long as she remains sole, he shall also send his brothers Royal Stewart two winters to school and the said Lewis shall pay the tax that may accrue on said land as soon as it becomes taxable, and the said Lewis shall not pay any rent during said term of seventeen years, then after the expiration of said seventeen years the said Lewis shall still keep possession of said premises provided his mother Mary Craviston should should survive her husband Nicholas Craviston he the said Lewis shall support her on said place provided she may require during her lifetime. It is to be understood that after the death of my daughter Mary Craviston if she survives the aforesaid term of seventeen years, the said land now rented or leased to said Lewis Stewart shall be sold if a favorable opportunity offer for selling it and the money it may be sold for shall be equally divided share and share alike amongst my grand children, Alexander, Lewis, Royel, Elizabeth, Charles, Menian and Muldah Stewart & Clara Pippinger.
And lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my trusty friend David Kreider of the County and State aforesaid sole executor of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking and annulling all former wills heretofore by me made, ratifying and confirming this and none other to be my last will and testament. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this tenth day of July in the years of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty-one.

404. Isaac Harris

From Catherine Siegel: The Brunswick Co., VA, Court Order Book 12, p. 175, for 24 Nov 1777:

"Ordered that John Harris, Wooten Harris, Benjamin Harris, Elizabeth Harris, and Mary Harr
is, orphans of Isaac Harris, deceased, be bound out by the Church Warden of Meherrin Parish a
ccording to law."

......From a letter written on 22 April 1858, by Benjamin F. Harris, in Upper Alton, IL, a great-grandson of Isaac Harris, we know that Isaac Harris had three other sons: William, Reuben, and Zachariah.


416. John Phillip Clapp

George and Anna's oldest son was John Phillip, who was born
Feb. 20, 1730 in Oley, Berks Co, PA. He married a cousin,
Barbara Clapp, daughter of John Ludwig Clapp. George
recieved a McCullough Land Grant for 202 acres of land in
Guilford Co, NC on Sept. 11, 1762. His will was also filed
in Guiford Co. NC and he died Feb., 1798.
