LORD STANLEY NEEDS TO GO ON THE ATKINS

When an NHL team wins the championship they are awarded the Stanley Cup trophy.  The most unique thing about the cup is every member of the team and even staff, get to have the Cup for a day.  Last Sunday it was Tampa Bay’s head scout Jack Goertzen’s turn to have his day with the Cup.

Jack waited in luggage claim for the Cup to arrive but nothing came out. “We (Jack and the Cup’s handler Walter Neubrand) were waiting for it to come out.” Goertzen. said.  “Everybody’s bag was their, except the Cup.”

Turns out that the airline felt Lord Stanley was too "fat" or heavy to fly (if you’ve flown at all you’ve surely seen coach is filled with much heavier things than the Cup).  Eventually the Cup finally made it to Goertzen and he got his day the NHL’s most Holiest of things.

Tampa players booze it up with Lord Stanley.

I just hope that we get our day with the NHL this season.  The players and owners are still in talks about their new contract and they have made no progress.  Everything is indicating a lockout is inevitable.

It’s sad to say but it could be that the only people holding the Stanley Cup over their heads at the end of the season will be my NHL 2005 Playstation 2 team.

Players, owners, please don’t let this lockout happen.  I like winning the Cup on Playstation and all but there is no game option to choose that gets the Cup sent to me—

too fat to fly or not.

Soon after this picture was taken, Pluto began humping the Cup and had to be removed.
