Raisin Filled Cookies 2 eggs 2 cups sugar 1 cup shortening (half butter and half lard) ½ cup sour cream 1 tsp. Soda in hot water Flour enough for soft dough Filling: 1 cup ground raisins ½ cup sugar ½ cup water 2 tbsp. Flour Cook until thick. Flavor cookie dough with nutmeg. Donated by Winnie Chute
Oatmeal Cookies 1 cup lard and butter (equal parts) 1 ½ cups sugar 3 well beaten eggs ½ tsp salt ¾ cup (thick) sour milk 1 rounded tsp soda 1 cup chopped raisins 1 heaping tsp. Cinnamon 2 cups oatmeal (quick cooking oatmeal) 2 cups flour Beat together sugar and shortening. Sift dry ingredients together and then stir all together with large spoon--add raisins last. Molasses Cookies 1 cup brown sugar 1 cup molasses 2/3 cup hot water or coffee 2/3 cup meat fryings or lard 1 egg 1 tsp. Cream of tartar 1 tbsp. Soda 1 tsp. Salt 1 tsp. Ginger 1 tsp. Cinnamon Flour enough to roll. Mix the night before. Donated by Mrs. Laurence Robbins
Peanut Bars 2 cups sugar 2 cups flour 4 eggs ½ cup cold water Beat sugar and yolks together thoroughly; then add the water and flour in which has been sifted a teaspoonful of baking powder. Flavor with vanilla. Beat lightly in the whites beaten to a stiff froth. Bake in a large pan and cut in squares and spread with powdered sugar frosting and roll in crushed peanuts.
