Review of all of Everclear's Albums

INTERVIEW/ARTICLE/REVIEW:

This article is pretty cool cuz I think a fellow fan wrote it, and he talks about all the cds and does a small review of them. I liked it, so I think you guys will too.

by James Gorman

With the recent release of songs from an American movie volume 2, I thought it would be a good time to write about how the changing styles of everclear and art alexakis writing are genius. I don’t feel world of noise is appreciated as well as it should be, it was recorded in one day for only $400 in a friends basement, even so the songs are still hard hitting and personal, with arts voice sounding angry and powerful. Everclear's first major success came with "Santa Monica" art said that “sparkle and fade” was the most personal album he has done with song like "heroin girl" relating to himself.

The success continued with "so much for the afterglow" even though the album was slightly more commercial it still was hard hitting and powerful with "everything to everyone" and "amphetamine". The set up of songs form an “American movie volume one” and “volume two” was pure genius with “songs from an American movie volume one” being pop related and upbeat, with the contradiction of the sad face on the CD. The album was criticised for being to poppy and unlike everclear, but this is what art alexakis and the band wanted.

The circle was completed with release of “songs from an American movie volume 2”, which spitted on the poppy side of volume one, with 12 songs for pure aggression and rock. The release of songs from an American movie volume 2 made songs from an American movie volume one look even better and dignified. Everclear once again proved the critics wrong and showed why they are the best and most under rated rock band of the modern era. I feel that only true everclear fan appreciated the 2 different styles of “songs from an American movie” and “songs from an American movie volume two”, even thought these two albums sound more “expensive” compared to “world of noise” and sparkle and fade”. Art alexakis voice is still as powerful and preaching as in any previous albums.
