Stuff You Don't See Anymore...
Animals on trains (freight or passenger, not counting
service animals for disabled folks)
Candy cigarettes
Cheap AM radios kids can mount to the handlebars of their
bicycles (you don't even want your kids to be listening to the drivel on
AM radio; news and nostalgia are OK, but the kids won't listen to that!
Radio Disney is OK, but most kids won't admit to listening to it.)
Cigarette commercials (when I lived in Indonesia, where
they still air, these were the best things on TV!)
Cigarette machines
Deposit pop bottles
Disneyland ticket books (A, B, C, D, and E coupons, plus
a complimentary ticket for "Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln")
Free maps at service stations (good ones made by Rand
McNally or Gousha)
Full service at gas stations for 33.9 cents per gallon
for Ethyl ("Check your oil, Mister?")
Knott's Berry Farm without barriers and free admission
L'Eggs pantyhose eggs (what'll I do for those humungous
eggshell projects which required them?)
People getting dressed up to travel, shop, or eat out
(with hat, tie, coat, and overcoat! They weren't only dressed that
way in the movies! It was for real!)
Phonograph records
Soft drink and beer cans not made of aluminum (anybody
got an opener?)
