ADDITIONAL ISSUES FTP User Interface and Functionality Complete Options Enhanced Encryption Strength Operating Systems Security Settings DEVELOPER'S NOTES Breif Thank You =================== SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS =================== To run any of these Programs on your computer must meet the following minimum requirements: - A 486 with a 66 MHz (megahertz) processor (Pentium processor recommended) - For Microsoft Windows 95 or Windows 98: 16 MB (megabytes) of RAM (random access memory) minimum - For Microsoft Windows NT(R) 4.0: 32 MB of RAM minimum You must be running Service Pack 3 (or higher) - For Microsoft Windows(R) 2000: 64 MB of RAM minimum ************************************************************************ This Section Only Applys To Programs That Require The Use Of The Browser ************************************************************************ - Minimal installation (browser only): Required to install: 45 MB Required to run: 27 MB after restart Typical installation: Required to install: 70 MB Required to run: 55 MB after restart Full installation: Required to install: 111 MB Required to run: 80 MB after restart ************************************************************************ ************************************************************************ - Mouse - Modem or Internet connection - CD-ROM drive (if installation is done from a CD-ROM) - Some Programs may require additional system resources not outlined above Disk-Space Requirements for Programs Installation ------------------------------------------------- To free up space on your hard disk inDelete unnessary files, and Programs that are nolonger in use order to meet the, disk-space installation requirements, you must free up space on the drive where the Program will be installed to. SETUP ===== Installing Programs ------------------- Whether you choose to install over the network or download the installation files to your hard disk, all of the files are copied to your hard disk. This allows you to reinstall more quickly if necessary. If you want to reclaim the disk space, you can remove the file in the Temp Setup directory as follows: 1. In Windows click on the start button and then click Programs folder now click system folder now click on the disk cleanup icon this should do the job. Removing Programs ----------------- 1. Click Add/Remove, make sure the check box for shared files is ckecked to save selected shared files and not delete them, and then click Remove. 2. If asked whether you want to continue and Reboot, click Yes. After Installing Programs ------------------------- ( Note ) You must restart your computer after installing Programs This is also true for some add-on components. Downloading From The MaD_DoG ZONE using Third-Party Download Manager -------------------------------------------------------------------- During the Download If you are using third-party download managers (for example, Netzip or GetRight) they will intercept the download request. This will cause The Download to stop. To prevent this from occurring, first disable third-party download managers, and then Try Downloading again. High Encryption Support For The MaD_DoG ZONE -------------------------------------------- High Encryption components are used at The MaD_DoG ZONE Enhanced Encryption Strength ---------------------------- At The NaD_DoG ZONE We use standard encryption strength of 128 bits and supports the U.S. government standard for data encryption (DES). 128-bit The MaD_DoG ZONE is eligible to allow all users worldwide except in U.S.-embargoed destinations. Running Programs on a Dual-Boot Operating System ------------------------------------------------ If you are running Programs on a computer that is set up to dual boot between two operating systems on the same partition (for example, Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.0), and you have configured the computer to share a single Program Files folder, you may have problems with add-on components. Also, when you uninstall an add-on component from your operating system it will be removed from both of them without updating the other operating system's installed components information. These problems occur because the add-on files are all stored in the shared Program Files folder, but information about installed add-on components is stored elsewhere. Installing or Upgrading the Program ----------------------------------- To install or upgrade you must sometimes uninstall the previous Version before you Install the New Version. 1. Uninstall Programs by using the procedure listed later in this document. 2. You can also Install the Program by using Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel. How To Create A Registry Key ---------------------------- ******************************************************************************* After Installing a Program for some strange reason you need to Redo a Reg Key this is an EXAMPLE of the some of the steps required to make a REG KEY: 1. This is a EXAMPLE registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Microsoft\Windows 98\CurrentVersion\program name here\ Compatibility\Applications\program name here PUT 2. Set the following value under the new "programs name here" key (this value should be of type REG_DWORD): ( EXAMPLE OF ) REG REG_ ): ( EXAMPLE OF ) Flags = 0x108 Flags = 0X102 Flags = 0X100 ******************************************************************************* Installing on Windows 98 with Novell IPX/IP Client -------------------------------------------------- If you are using Novell IPX/IP client with Windows 98, you might experience problems if you install Programs from the Internet. If Setup appears to become unresponsive, restart your computer. Setup will continue and finish normally. To work around this problem, try the following option: - In Setup, select the Download Only option, Uninstalling Older Versions of Programs --------------------------------------- You can uninstall by carrying out the following steps: 1. In Control Panel, double-click Add/Remove Programs. 2. Click on the name of the Program you whish to uninstall, and then click Add/Remove. 3. Click Restore the Previous Windows Configuration, and then click OK. 4. Follow the instructions on the screen. Previous Versions of Programs Unavailable ----------------------------------------- If you uninstall a Program and you donot have the Program to reinstall you may not be able to reinstall that Program if you didnot save the Program on disketts or cd. Reason: I might not have that stored at my storage sites any more. If you are upgrading you will not have uninstall data that allows you to roll back to last Version Unless you explicitly removed the uninstall data using Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel before upgrading to the next Version. There is no user interface in Windows 2000 to select Download Only. To perform a Download Only on Windows 2000,check with windows ================= ADDITIONAL ISSUES ================= Installing WSFTP or Other Simalar FTP Programs and the Use of the FTP User Interface and Functionality -------------------------------------------------------- If you discover an issue in the FTP user interface that blocks FTP functionality, you can turn off this feature on the Advanced tab in the Internet Options dialog box. The following functionality are supported: - Internet connection via CERN or Web proxy servers. - Connecting to VAX or VMS FTP servers. - Copying from server to server. - Drag-and-drop or copy-and-paste functionality from an FTP server is supported only on Windows 2000, Windows Me, and later. Installing and Playing Games on Your Computer --------------------------------------------- Changing the language used in menus and dialog boxes might not work with all display adapters. If you see blank menus or dialog boxes after changing the language, try either of the following options: - Change the resolution of your display adapter. - Upgrade the driver for your display adapter to a newer version. For information about updated drivers, contact the manufacturer of your display adapter. LogIn Options ----------------- Several options: - To delete a specific LogIn entry, make sure the cursor is flashing in box, and then press Backspace to DELETE ALL. - To delete a user password on a login page, delete the user name; the password will be deleted with it. Security Settings ----------------- The settings for the security levels of the MaD_DoG ZONE have changed for Internet Explorer 5.5 and might no longer be consistent with those in previous versions of Internet Explorer.
