Canguine
Canguine of Tertius 28th 1666 is in unusually good spirts. There was a hanging of two pirates who weren't Sea Dogs and one of the Sea Dogs has just captured La Bucca (or so they think). Read the article below:
From the Luthon Weekly SEA DOG CAPTURES LA BUCCA Last month the unfortunate prisoners of Castille’s prison of La Bucca revolted against their captors and a man named “Allende” is said to have taken over the island prison and turned it into a pirate fortress in the middle of Castillian waters. Now rumors from within the Office of the High Admiral suggest that Allende is none other than, Commodore Nathaniel Winters, a hero of The Succession and The Armada and now the ‘king of pirates’ who commands the raiding of the Castillian shore from La Bucca, also in a move that has expertly anticipated policy he has also begun to raid Montaigne shipping as well leading to the Admiralty of the Montaigne Navy placing a 45 guinea purse on his head; while his existing bounty of 90 guineas in Castille has been increased to 135 under his new name of Allende. No doubt though he will not be fighting alone for long. As his own ship and others have been sent south no doubt to aid Commodre Winters in securing the Sea Dog’s latest base of operations. |
A1 - The Old Town Hall - Burnt down in the Succession and hasn't been rebuilt. In a joking tribute to the Montaigne former occupiers the area, now used for performances, is called "The Emperor's Stage"
B3 - The Broken Compass - Famous Sea Dog watering hole. Well known for its patrons swapping stories and their audience always asking them when they finish: "Did ya die?".
B5 - Red Sky at Night Sail Makers - Owned by Miss Rebecca Howser, she rents a room upstairs to Captain Winters that serves as his permanent place of residence.
B7 - The Pot and the Kettle - Best liquor in town and one of the only place in town to get decent wine. A popular watering hole for Jake the Bank the town's ruthless moneylender.
B8 - Vendors Row - You can find just about anything here it's overseen by Captain McLaughlin a retired pirate and Captain Winter's first commander. The two men can often be found drinking together or supping at McLaughlin's home.
C7 - Offices of Jeremiah Thrush Prize Broker - A fence who while obsequious drives a hard bargain. He is often able to move prize cargo that others in town can't. Of course it's going to cost you a bit though.
D1 - The Lighthouse and Gallows Point - The light house is said to be of Synreth design and operates entirely on its own without any help from the town. Below it stands the town gallows set over the water specifically for hanging pirates (those without a letter of Marque and Reprisal from Avalon) currently hanging there are: Captains Pistols Miller and Charles Dandy. They were Captains of the Deepest Depths and Red Skyes respectively.
D2 - The Promenade - Area lined with shops, taverns and houses of ill repute all of them charging about 110-200% the usual rate. Good places to advertise for crew though.
D4 - Wells and Son Shipwrights - Owned by the unmarried and childless Timothy Brackish, who chose the name for its homey and honest appeal. Despite his trickery with the name he charges reasonable prices and does good work. He offers repairs, modifications and out and out building of ships here.
E6 - Mayor's House - A beautiful home overlooking the lake where the Mayor lives and does buisness. He's freindly he's forthright but very openly corrupt. He is also in charge of the Sea Dogs day to day operations and anything administrative has to go through him when Berek's not on hand.
