Sebastien's Letters

 Canguine

Quartus 12th, 1666

To Sebastien La Boulanger, Master and Commander of the Wolf.

My dear fellow, the Explorer’s Society is indeed greatly indebted to your services this month of Quintus in the Year of the Prophets’ Truth 1666 in restoring to us the Griffon and what cargo it  had that was  yet not  stolen by the pirates you faced. In gratitude of your service and in thanks for your kind donation of your share of the Griffon you are now named patron of the Society and shall there by enjoy the hospitality of any Charter House of the society you may encounter in your travels. Additionally should you have the time, we would be glad of a proper account of the events in writing so it may be added to the Society’s Journal of Events.

Many thanks and reguards,

Vincent Bernvadore,

Headmaster of the Explorer’s Society

 Canguine

Quartus 12th, 1666

To whom it may concern,

I, Sir Reginald Wolff, Knight of the Second Tier of the Order of the High Queen, Inspector General of the Office of the High Admiral, Member of the House of Lords for the Township of Canguine and member in good standing of the Sailor’s, Merchant’s and Usurer’s guilds of Kirk do hereby testify to the skill and talents of Sir La Boulanger, Knight of the Third Tier of the Order of the High Queen as a commander of a vessel of trade and of war.

He while in my service not only delivered a cargo worth some 10,300 guilder and returned with a more valuable one without damage or undue delay, but did so with a crew of more than half unskilled seamen and faced a foul betrayal by a man of little honour and faced not one but two ships of pirates, disarming and capturing one of those pirates and escaping the other and returning with a recovered vessel of the Explorers’ Society. You will find him a most excellent fellow and one whose honesty is above reproach.

If there is any doubt of this account, please send me a missive at Wolff House, Canguine, and I shall verify any and all of what is written here on my word as a gentleman and agent of Her Majesty Queen Elaine of Avalon.

Sir Reginald Wolff

Knight of the Second Tier of the Order of the High Queen,

Inspector General of the Office of the High Admiral,

Member of the House of Lords for the Township of Canguine,

Member in good standing of the Sailor’s, Merchant’s and Usurer’s guilds of Kirk

[Delivered at Eldgrim with a bottle of Porisse "Year of the Sun" wine.]

Congratulations on your success and thanks for your gift. I look forward to when I may hear the story in fullness. I have discharged the sad duty of notifying the Admiralty of the loss of Sir Smith, his family will be promptly compensated. Things proceed here. Much discussion of your patron’s last visit has taken place. V are suspicious and he should be advised to be careful. JP wishes you the best from your homeland. He writes daily. Any letters to your family can be delivered through me.

PS: Accompanying to wet your victory courtesy of myself and JP.

Sebastien,

May have found our fortune in La Bouche. City is safe, come at your earliest possibility, great fortune awaits us both.

Signed,

Luc
