The Calise Family

of

Providence & New York

Unfortunately, we have suffered another loss in our family. Last week Auntie Carrie Calise and her daughter-in-law, Mary Calise, (Paulie's wife), passed away. They will be missed. Our thoughts are with Paul and his family.

Our family is SOooooo large it's hard to feel"connected"; however, we are ONE family
and wouldn't be nice to really get to know all of your relatives?

Let's start at the beginning:

Giovannina and Francesco Paolo Calise

John Calise
Fred Calise
Virginia Calise
Fannie Calise
Theresa Calise
Mary Calise
Andrew Calise
Anna Calise
Jim Calise
Tina Calise
Helen Calise

We've been doing a bit of research, but we've got our work cut out for us...

Grandpa Francesco Paolo arrived in the U.S. on April 24, 1896, at the age of 36. His ship
was the S.S. Victoria. We've been trying to find Grandma Giovanina, who arrived
sometime around June, 1901, but we've been unable to find her arrival, bringing with her
Uncle Johnnie, Uncle Freddie and Auntie Vi.

Grandpa Calise was a successful fruit and produce merchant, settled in Providence, on
Federal Hill, had a storefront and pushcarts. He later bought properties in Cranston, RI
and the Mount Pleasant Section of Providence, in addition to the 3 floor one family home
he owned at 79 Sutton Street, Providence. All this - - with 11 children! And - - - they even
had a summer home on Transit Street, in the Conimicut Section of Warwick, RI!

Grandma passed away at the age of 42 years, from pneumonia and Grandpa passed away
at about the age of 59 years, from a gastric illness. (More info to come).........

Well, now you know the basics.....let's see if we can get to know our aunts and uncles
better.......
