Heero was trained to be an emotionless machine by Doctor J, one of the creators of the five gundams. he flew wing gundam, carried out his missions, and killed anyone who got in his way. Throughout the series, Heero's abrasive exterior softens and occasionally he shows sympathy or pity for other human beings.

Heero has strong relationships with only two people. The first is relena, who, although he threatens to kill her frequently, sometimes slips up and shows concern for her well-bieng. Although many respect him-such as the other Gundam pilots, Trieze and Zechs, he also seems to have a genuine friendship with Duo Maxwell, despite their initial antagonism.
