Chapter 10

They sang the first encore and when they came back for a second Brian
started to talk over the band signaling them to stop.

“Hey y’all!! I have a request to make. I met someone who I want to sing
this with us is that ok with you?” he asked holding the microphone at the
audience who roared their approval. He looked over to where Whitney and I
were sitting and gave a little nod.

Whitney shook her head violently, NO. But this didn’t phase Brian
because he walked off the stage, through security and over to Whitney. He took
her hand and led her to the stage handing her a microphone.

“Now, you see Whitney here is pretty shy, so could all of you out there
make her feel at home?” he again asked the crowd getting another ear splitting
roar. “Then let’s go. One…two… one two three four!” They sang As Long as
You Love Me and I came off beautifully and the look on Whitney’s face was
sheer astonishment. It was obvious to me and probably everyone else in the
arena that this hadn’t been a planned event. She smiled, bowed and practically
ran off the stage toward me. I gave her a great big hug and asked her how it felt
to have an arena full of people cheering for her.

“It was the biggest rush! I felt like a superstar!”

“You did awesome! I was like ‘Go Whitney, Go Whitney’,” I explained
doing a little dance to illustrate.

“I’m sure you were,” she chuckled. The lights had come back up and we
headed for the backstage area so we could meet up with the guys. On the way
out two or three girls stopped Whitney to tell her they liked her singing and ask
for her autograph. This completely blew her away.

Backstage we saw Elizabeth and Ashleigh again and Elizabeth too
complimented Whitney on her beautiful voice.

Kevin ran over to me and hugged me. In the process he managed to pick
me up off my feet and swing me around. He stopped when my feet came in
contact with another person who let out a grunt when he got hit.

“What the hell? Kevin why are you throwing women around?” he asked
half amused, half pissed.

“Just hugging Bobbi for giving me the opportunity to introduce myself
to this beautiful woman over here Elizabeth. Who has just agreed to go on a
date with me tomorrow evening before we leave town again,” Kevin beamed.

“That’s great! You asked her out!” I said giving Kevin a high five.

“So you’re Bobbi?” the guy I now identified as AJ, another member of
the group said giving me a once over with his eyes.

“That would be correct….” I waited for him to introduce himself.

“AJ. I thought you’d know that,” he said.

“Well, I did sorta, but just trying not to give the wrong name to ya,” I
said trying to be pleasant. I got weird vibes from this guy.

“Oh. Well if you’ll excuse me I have some important things to do,” he
said pushing past me down the hall.

“I wonder what crawled up his ass and died,” I said quietly.

“Shut up!” he yelled from down the hall. I didn’t know he had heard me.
Weird.
