Chapter 24 Later that evening, after a nap to catch up on lost sleep of course I made a few key calls to Kevin regarding both the MTV awards and our plans as to how we would get to the concert. With the MTV awards in a few months I knew I would be working practically non-stop doing two very important things. First off I’ll explain what I mentioned earlier about concentrating to get my picture taken. All right here’s how it goes, as a vampire I’m not supposed to be able to be captured on film, that’s common knowledge. Anyway through the years vampires acquired the talent of making themselves visible with a large amount of concentration. So, if I sit there, and think about it I can be pictured. Got it? Well there’s another little clause once you’ve mastered this talent, it get’s easier and easier until it’s second nature and you don’t have to concentrate any more. Simple theory. Only thing was, I needed practice. I realized that the show would be me concentrating on being visible when we were out in the audience, just because an empty seat in the middle of the Backstreet Boys would seem a little odd. All right. The other thing I needed to do was to make two outfits. I had a killer one in mind for me, but was clueless as to what Whitney might want. My outfit was a floor length dress with a halter neck. It was black with little silver flecks all over it. I figured I would wear a pair of black high heels and minimalistic jewelry. In my mind there was a time for outrageous and a time for sophisticated. This definitely was not a time for outrageous in my mind. Whitney’s outfit was a midnight blue dress that stopped just above her ankles and had a v-neck that she was a little worried about because of it’s depth. Anyway, it looked really cute, and she wore lots of silver jewelry with silver heels. Well, with lots of careful planning and re-arranging of schedules me managed to have the day before and the day after the MTV awards to ourselves. At one of the Meetings I asked around and found a hairdresser in our midst. She agreed to do mine and Whitney’s hair for a small fee. The days until the awards flew by, between Whitney’s performances, keeping I touch with the Boys, creating new outfits and just overall having too much to do, I was amazed when July turned into August and August turned into September. “Bobbi! The awards are tonight! Come on, get up!” Whitney said shaking me violently awake. “I’m up, I’m up.” “No, you’re not. You’re just pretending to be up, you’ll got back to sleep if I leave. So move your ass out of that bed!” she commanded. “Fine,” I mumbled standing up trying to clear my eyes. I reached for my glasses so I could see to begin my day. “Better. You know, we only have about an hour to get to Shannon’s to get our hair done.” “OK. She wants me to have my hair washed before I go right?” “Yep, I already showered, it’s your turn,” she said throwing my towel at me and going over to the closet and taking out her dress. “I’ll be back,” I mumbled stumbling off toward the shower. After I’d bathed, put my contacts in and made myself presentable I walked out of the bathroom in a better mood. “Come on, we need to leave now if we want to get there on time,” Whitney said grabbing my arm and shoving me out the door. “At least let me get my shoes,” I grumbled walking back into our apartment and then rejoining her to begin our trek to Shannon’s for full hair and make up.
