Chapter 33 We got a few looks from questioning mothers, and a few glares from teenagers, obviously thinking we were girlfriends of the Boys. When we got toward the front of the line we saw that it was none other than James, our favorite of the Backstreet bodyguards checking passes. “James!” I called when we got closer. “Girls! It’s so good to see you. Kevin said you’d be here,” he said ushering us through before he even checked our passes. This wasn’t helping our cases with those glaring teenagers. “Are you their girlfriends?” one of the girls asked rudely. “Not as far as I know, although I’ve caught her and Brian kissing more than once,” James said tossing a look at Whitney that was somewhere between a warning and a smug expression. “I’m not his girlfriend as far as I know,” was all Whitney said. Then they turned their attention to me. “You look like you would be AJ’s girlfriend. Are you?” “Nope,” I said almost laughing outright at the thought. “Then why are you laughing,” they asked. “Just thinking about dating Buttface is too much,” I said through laughter. “Huh? You mean you don’t like AJ?” “Not a bit. Although I must say I made out with him once, and it was all good, so if one of you can get him, keep in mind that he’s a good kisser,” I said teasing them with information. “So you were his girlfriend?” the same girl asked accusingly. “No. Nothing of the sort. If you want to know the truth, we were drunk. There I admitted it. We were both drunk and not thinking correctly,” was all I said. “Oh.” “Why don’t you guys all go in front of us?” I said ushering the girls into the meet and greet room. Whitney and I hung outside until the crowd began to thin before we made out entrance. Brian looked up when we entered and immediately locked eyes with Whitney. He was shocked to say the least. He finished signing the last girl’s autograph and practically ran to Whitney. “You’re here! How’d you do it?” he cried. “Bobbi here cooked up a scheme along with your cousin over there,” Whitney said pointing to Kevin who had a sheepish grin on his face and waved. “It’s great to see you again. The last trip to Europe was like a month ago and I haven’t seen you since,” he said hugging her again. “By the way,” I asked, “Where is Buttface?” “He went into the lounge room just before you guys came in, he’ll be back. Don’t start anything all right? It took me a week to calm him down after last time you two met,” Brian cautioned. “Good thinking,” I muttered as I walked over to Kevin, Howie and Nick. “Hey guys,” I said embracing each one in turn. “What’s up girl? Looking mighty good,” Howie said with a mischievous grin on his face. “Howard! Well, I certainly didn’t expect that from you,” I said in an airy voice laughing at his comment. Then throwing the back of my hand up to my forehead. We began to talk about the new album, and how it was coming along, with a few animated stories from Nick about recording in Florida.
