BRITISH BEAUTY WHO MOVED TO THE U.S. TO FIND STARDOM IN TV’S FRASIER

FROM BENNY HILL TO BEVERLY HILLS

Sexy beauty Jane Leeves shows off the fabulous looks that have made her a hit on both sides of the Atlantic.

Jane , who found fame as one of Benny Hill’s Angels , today stars in the top American sitcom Frasier.

Up to 16 million Americans tune into the show every week to see her play saucy nurse Daphne Moon. Now British beauty Jane 37 , who lives in Los Angeles , has delighted fans by stripping off for a raunchy photo shoot. Frasier is a UK hit on Channel 4 , drawing 3 million views. The show earns Jane £64,000 an episode making her one of the highest paid comic actresses in the US.

It is all a long way from her early TV days with Benny in the 70’s. Jane says : “I played the maid who’d come in holding the tea tray with her skirt because she couldn’t find the oven mitts . It was typically Benny Hill.” She say’s she once arrived at Benny’s house and he answered the door in his pyjamas and chased her around.. “He was definitely a bit of an odd bod. He was like a mad professor running around like with a can of air freshener.”

In Frasier , Jane’s character Daphne has a strong Lancashire accent. But in real life Jane was born in Essex. She grew up in East Grinstead and she has a posh Sussex lilt. Her fake northern accent is a big hit with American men. She says “I’m seen as quaint and funny. If I had a French accent everyone would think I was incredibly good in bed.”

Jane turned to acting when her childhood dream of becoming a ballerina was shattered by a fall which broke her ankle. Her Benny Hill stint lead to a small part as a showgirl in Monty Python’s Meaning of life were she was strapped with wings and fake boobs. She went to find fame in LA at the age of 21. She joined acting classes along side Jim Carrey and Hollywood babe Winona Ryder.

Jane , who married US TV executive Marshall Coben , set up her own production company called Bristol Cities . She says “It’s rhyming slang. But the joke is lost on Americans!” Despite her perfect curves , Jane admits to “eating like a truck driver” But she says ballet training still keeps her supple.

Asked if she would prefer to date Frasier or his TV brother Niles , Jane says : “Niles . He’s very intelligent and funny and that would throw me off balance. That said , I wouldn’t mind Frasier either.” Jane is determined to blow apart the American myth that English girls are up tight. She says : “You only have to look at British TV to see it’s so much more gritty and sexual. In my opinion , English girls are real goers”
