"The Dance of the
Unicorn"
"Back
in
ancient times//When Ireland stood proud
and strong//There lived a beautiful
creature//Whose mane flowed down so
long//It stepped and pranced//Across the
rivers and valleys so green//It was a
vision, a sight to behold//For every
man, woman and child//Its legend spread
beyond Irelands green and pleasant
land//And reached the ears of a young
boy//Who was just learning how to
stand//Once he had stood for many a
year//He now wanted so to dance//He
remembered that bold Unicorn and how it
delicately pranced//In his dreams he saw
it gallop and move it's hooves so
fast//He wanted to be just like that
Unicorn//He wanted to live the
dance//Years flew by, that boy became a
man//He worked so hard to acheive that
dream//Determination in his blood
ran//He danced so hard and danced so
long//Until that magical day it
dawned//And Michael Flatley became that
beautiful creature//The proud strong
Unicorn//He danced for me, he danced for
you//He danced for Ireland, bringing
back anew//The poetic heritage that
existed in this green land//Long before
this man was born//Blessing those with
his vision so grand//He beat out those
ancient rhythmns//With his heels and his
toes//The drum pounded ever faster//As
the crowds excitement grows//The flame
it builds to become one almighty
roar//It's cry heard throughout the
Universe//Echoing round the planets//As
if it were solar wind//This rhythmn so
eloquent and divine//Was both sexual and
primitive//As it danced on down thru
time//To see this noble stallion//Dance
with such speed and grace//Bought a
smile of joy and radiance//To the mystic
Unicorns face//At last, he said, to one
and all//I know now that I have seen it
all//This man he dances in honour of
me//I know this gift must surely be//The
greatest tribute ever paid to thee//And
all Celts throughout the land//Let this
dance continue on//Til time has reached
it's natural end//And we are all but
sand"
"Wild horses won't drag
me away from
him//As long as I'm standing and still
breathing//Those wild horses fly across
the waves and sand//Breaking the
barriers of light and sound//Pushing
past the moon and into space//Their
hooves flying and thundering in this
race//As fast as they gallop and as sure
as they run//These wild horses will fail
to stop this one//In her quest for
Michaels dance//To feel once again the
passion enhanced//When that bright
Unicorn first steps out//Even wild
horses will be forced to slow down//The
joy and the rapture will ripple out like
waves//My soul will, once again, be
saved//So let the lights burn and the
music play//I cannot wait for this
marvellous day//To dawn and renew my
spirit again//Let the dance be forever,
let it never end//Those wild horses will
have to slow//Before with them away I
will go//To see my true love, fair and
strong//Dance faster back to where he
belongs"
