I just want to say that I wrote this review of the VMA's at the end of last week. I almost don't want to even bother posting it. All of the sudden this kind of thing seems really petty and unimportant compared to everything that's going on right now. Our nation is under attack, and I for one, am terrified about what the coming months hold for the U.S. After what I've seen in the last three days, I've had a sudden love for our country that was never there before. I've become extremely patriotic. But do you know why there are so many motivational speeches being given by our political leaders? I do. Mark my words, we are headed for war. And that thought scares me more than anything has in my life. My prayers are with all of you who have suffered during this devastating time.

The 2001 VMA's--What the hell is wrong with Kevin? He was wearing a skirt again. I found myself rubbing my temples and repeating the phrase "He's married to a woman, he's married to a woman." The show sucked ass, which I'm sure those of you who saw it already concluded. I decided to watch TRL on Friday, before turning MTV off for good, but more on my reasons for that later. They showed clips of Willa Ford interviewing several celebrities arriving for the show. I could not stop laughing when she tried to interview the Backstreet Boys and Nick walked right past her ignoring her completely. The only response she got from any of them was a nod from Howie and a wave from Brian as they quickly walked by her. After they had passed, she turned around, looked directly at the camera and said, "THAT was not very polite, Nicholas Gene Carter!" I know MTV was trying to make it seem like BSB were a bunch of rude pricks, but how many of you would stop to chat it up with an ex you had ended things badly with? Nick's not that bright, so I don't think he would know how to be fake to her. I don't blame him for just walking by. Later on TRL, they also showed some clips of BSB in a van on the way to their concert venue after presenting at the VMA's. I'm so proud of AJ for turning the other cheek and not saying anything to Jamie Foxx regarding his disgusting jokes. I'm also proud of the other guys for getting pissed at Jamie Foxx and sticking up for AJ.
Okay, here's my letter I'm considering sending to MTV. What do ya'll think?

To everyone that worked extremely hard to put the 2001 VMA's on the air... I'm sorry to say, you wasted your fucking time. That was the most god awful piece of shit I have ever seen on MTV...and I've seen every 'Nsync video made. There are no words to express how bad your show had to be to surpass them in crappiness.

Lets start with the host of the evening. Jamie Foxx was a poor choice. Most of his jokes were greeted with the chirping of crickets. He's lucky the people he made fun of are too gracious to do anything but sit there with a smile plastered on their faces. Better choices for host would have been Will Smith or Ben Stiller. Both of those men did more in their two minutes on stage, then Jamie Foxx did in his 3 1/2 hours as host.

As I think back on the winners of the evening, it's difficult to come up with more than a select few who were deserving of their award. Alicia Keys and Mudvayne are the only ones I can think of. The majority of the performances were weak, and some so tedious I "accidentally" leaned on the controller and changed the channel. I have to say that Linkin Park was very impressive and did an awesome job on their first performance at an award show. Alicia Keys did a wonderful job as well and has a beautiful voice. A measure of true talent is how well the artist can perform live. As expected, 'Nsync delivered a tacky, over-rehearsed performance with special guest the "King of Pop." In my opinion, to be the king of pop MUSIC, one has to sing at least a note. I'm sure I would have much to say regarding Britney's "performance," but I didn't finish watching the show. After the Viewers Choice Award I couldn't sit through another minute. I turned the channel in disgust. I'm going to try as hard as I can to not sound like a whiny child when I say this, but was the Viewers Choice award fixed? I don't see how the Backstreet Boys could be so far ahead of the competition, yet surpassed by 'Nsync in the last hour before the award was given out.

The reason I chose not to view the VMA's last year was that your network failed to invite my favorite pop group, the Backstreet Boys and I felt like that was a huge mistake. After much debate I decided to give MTV the benefit of the doubt this year, and try to sit through the 2001 VMA's. Especially considering my favs were nominated for two awards and scheduled to present. After witnessing most of the show, I regret to inform you that you have lost me as a viewer. It saddens me to realize that I can easily go without ever seeing MTV again.
