On the basis of his performances in the films River's Edge and Back to the Future , as well as some eccentric behavior in two episodes of Late Night With David Letterman , Crispin Glover has garnered a well-deserved reputation as one of the more, er, interesting young actors around. So perhaps it shouldn't be surprising that his first record album, "The Big Problem Does Not = the Solution. The Solution = Let It Be, " on Restless, is a fairly strange piece of work. A colle ction of spoken monologues, including excerpts from the actor's book Rat Catching along with covers of songs associated with Nancy Sinatra (!) and Charles Manson (!!), the album resulted from a chance meeting.

"Mark Mothersbaugh of Devo took me to a party," Glover told us, "where I met Barnes and Barnes [the comedy and music team featuring former Lost in Space child star Billy Mumy]. They said they wanted to make a record with me, and after a while I r ealized they were serious." Two years and several creative disagreements later, the result has been unleashed on unsuspecting record buyers throughout America, but Glover is not keen to repeat the experience. "It was creatively satisfying," he said, "and I'm never going to say never, but right now I'm thinking mostly about acting."
