The Partridge Family VIII 1973-74 Season
Catalog no.: Screen Gems PF-8 One-sided, in-house record put out by Screen Gems during the Partridge
Family run. The record - one of at least nine that seem to have been pressed
- appears to be a test-pressing of sorts of the songs used on the show
during a particular season. This record contains "Cryin' In The Rain,"
"When Love's Talked About," and "Working On A Groovy Thing." All three
of those songs were done only on the show and never released commercially.

Also contains a song called "I Was Running The Opposite Way" which never made it on to the show itself. At one time, Tiger Beat magazine printed the lyrics to the song and said it was going to be part of the Cherish album. |

David has worked on several album projects - at least - that have never seen the light of day. Here's a rundown: In 1978, he was working on an album for Warner/Curb. He was reportedly working with the group Brooklyn Dreams on some of the tracks. Hard Times (Hard Crimes), the theme to David Cassidy - Man Undercover, was supposed to be released as a single. In 1982, he recorded at least three sides with Larry Butler in Nashville. The tracks, for a proposed country-crossover album were scrapped because David wasn't pleased with the outcome. In 1983, David announced he was going to write and record an album with Jimmy Webb. Nothing was ever released. In 1989, he began working with Sue Shifrin on an album for MCA. Some of these tracks ended up on the Enigma album. |
A plethora of unreleased material is available in the form of 1970s
concerts recorded by fans. Some of the unreleased songs David did in the
1970s include

On July 4th, 1983, David played in Philadelphia with Jimmy Webb.
They did five songs:
Almost all of David's 1985 concert set was captured on the Starblend album (part of which was released by Starblend as a 54-minute video). Occasionally, though, he strayed from his normal set and did The Letter and - at a fan's request - he did The Puppy Song. In December (year?), at a concert/party sponsored by a Toledo radio station, David climbed on stage with Vixen and jammed on Sympathy For The Devil. On December 21 (year?), David sang Stranger In Your Heart and I Think I Love You at the Mark and Brian Christmas Party. In May 1989, David played three songs - Treat Me Like You Used To, Crazy Over You, and I'll Never Stop Loving You - on the Mark and Brian radio show on KLOS-FM in Los Angeles. The first and last songs were duets with Sue Shifrin, who co-wrote the songs with David. During his 1991 tour, David sang Cry, which has never been
released. On two shows he also did I'm Gonna Be Strong (originally
a Gene Pitney song, also covered by Cyndi Lauper and Juice Newton).
Television Shows David's guest appearances on various shows have resulted in a number
of unreleased tracks and alternate versions, including
Some of this material exists on audio and some on video.

Bootlegs
Released: 1982 on SG Records
Two-record, 31-song bootleg set sold by a store called Goin' Back Enterprises in Hawaii. Originally, the set was advertised as having unreleased tracks, interviews and other rarities. Basically, it was a rip off. It came in a plain white cover with a xeroxed sheet as the cover. It consisted of songs from Cassidy Live!, Christmas Card and various Partridge Family songs. The only so-called rarities on it were If I Didn't Care, Frozen Noses, All I Wanna Do Is Touch You, and Strengthen My Love (a song David sang on the 1977 Partridge Family/My Three Sons Reunion shown on ABC). |
