Hi guys and gals,
summer's almost here, and most of you will soon be looking forward to relax on a beach or by a swimming pool. David doesn't seem to be relaxing, though. His "David Cassidy at the Copa" is going strong, and as you will read in this issue of the newsletter, there's been a few TV and radio appearances. And don't forget the Totally Groovy 70's Polyester Ball in June. You can read more about these things if you read this month's issue.
Hopefully I'll see some of you when I'm going to the show in Vegas in June. Who knows, maybe I'll bring a couple of surprises for you for the June newsletter.

Erik

If there are anyone planning on attending the David Cassidy Celebrity Golf Tournament on June 10-11th 2000, we have been informed by the Just David Fan Club that the Polo Towers Hotel is offering some kind of special deal pricewise. We do not know at this moment the details of the special - if it's just for accomodations or if it includes cost of tournament.  You will have to call the Polo Towers to find out the specifics and decide if it is worthwhile for your plans: 1-702-261-1000.  When you call tell them you are inquiring about the David Cassidy Celebrity Golf Tournament deal they have arranged for attendees.

This is not a special designated for the fanclub - this is the general deal the Polo Towers is offering to any attendees of the Golf Tournament.  But they figured as fans of David may attend, they would let us know of this deal so those of you going could look into it.

THE PARTRIDGE FAMILY ON VIDEO:

TV’s first family of pop music, The Partridge Family, is back in a deluxe collector’s edition! With their stylish and comical blend of bubblegum pop and teen romance, the Partridges delighted viewers for four seasons on ABC prime time, and for 25 more years in reruns.

Shirley Jones starred as Shirley Partridge, the widowed musical matriarch. Teen heartthrob David Cassidy played singer/guitarist Keith, with beautiful Susan Dey as keyboardist Laurie, carrot-topped Danny Bonaduce as precocious bass player Danny, Suzanne Crough as tambourine-waving Tracy, and Jeremy Gelbwaks (soon replaced by Brian Forster) as drummer Chris. Dave Madden rounded out the cast as the band’s manager — and father figure — Reuben Kincaid.

Episodes found the family at home or on the road in their colorful school bus. Storylines centered on the pressures of show business, as well as more personal crises such as dating and getting braces. A new Partridge Family song was featured in every episode, and this breezy musical TV series proved a welcome distraction from a turbulent year that saw the Kent State shootings and the U.S. invasion of Cambodia. Introductory videocassette (4 episodes) is just $4.95 plus shipping and handling with subscription. Subsequent volumes are $19.95 each plus shipping and handling.

Notes & Trivia:
The Partridge Family was partially based on a real-life musical family, The Cowsills, who scored a hit with "Hair"...In real life, Shirley Jones was David Cassidy’s stepmother...The Partridge Family was nominated for the 1970 Grammy® award for Best New Artist of the Year, but lost to Crosby, Stills and Nash...The Partridge Family inspired a short-lived, Saturday-morning cartoon, Partridge Family: 2200 A.D., featuring the voices of several original cast members.

The Partridge Family debuted September 25, 1970... Also in 1970: Two members of The Chicago Seven are acquitted of conspiracy charges...The Apollo 13 mission is launched and successfully returns to Earth after a mechanical failure...President Richard M. Nixon signs into law a bill that bans cigarette advertising on TV and radio.

Your First Volume:
Volume 1: COME ON GET HAPPY On September 25, 1970, The Partridge Family, television’s first singing family, loosely based on the Cowsills and The Sound of Music, premiered at 8:30 p.m. on ABC, following the Brady Bunch and Nanny and the Professor. Traveling in a psychedelic bus, which they painted themselves, and dressed in matching maroon crushed-velvet pant suits, the Partridge Family lip-synched songs recorded by studio musicians and starred Shirley Jones and her real-life step-son, David Cassidy, who actually did sing. The Partridge Family Album, the group’s first album, rocketed to number four on the charts, and their single "I Think I Love You" hit number one on the charts. By December, The Partridge Family was flying high in the Top Ten. So Come On, Get Happy!

What? And Get Out of Show Business? [Episode 1] After recently-widowed Shirley Partridge joins her kids’ rock band to record a song in the garage, ten-year-old Danny gets manager Reuben Kincaid to listen to the recording by slipping a tapedeck under a rest room stall —— landing the Partridge family their first gig at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas where the kids get stagefright. Featured Songs: "Let the Good Times In," "Together" Note: Shirley Jones starred in Oklahoma!, Carousel, Elmer Gantry (winning an Academy Award® for Best Supporting Actress), The Music Man, and The Cheyenne Social Club.

But the Memory Lingers On [Episode 8] After a skunk stows away aboard the Partridge Family’s bus, Mr. Kincaid forces everyone to bathe in tomato juice and then charm hotel guests into lending them their clothes so they can play a benefit concert for children at St. Mark’s hospital. Featured Songs: "I Think I Love You," "Brand New Me" Note: The Partridge Family ends up playing their concert from inside the hospital operating room.

Fellini, Bergman, and Partridge [Episode 41] After Keith makes a avant garde home movie starring the members of his family, Danny shows it at Muldune’s Point, prompting the owner of the Royal Theater to offer Keith one hundred dollars for the rights to show it as a short before Gone with the Wind at his movie theater —— much to the family’s chagrin. Featured Songs: "Together," "Hello, Hello" Notes: Be sure to watch for Mr. Kincaid dressed as a good fairy.

Bedknobs and Drumsticks [Episode 68] Mr. Kincaid arranges for the Partridge Family to star as a wholesome family having a picnic in a commercial for Uncle Erwin’s Country Chicken, but Uncle Erwin insists that the Partridges appear in the commercial wearing feathered chicken suits. Featured Song: "Friend and a Lover" Note: William Windom (Erwin) starred as Congressman Glen Morley on The Farmer’s Daughter, John Monroe on My World And Welcome To It, and Dr. Seth Hazlitt on Murder, She Wrote.

The DC Journal

May 9 - 15, 2000: Dark days at the Rio. David Cassidy will not perform this week.

May 15, 2000: Both Shaun and David were on ABC news today - Shaun was on during their 5:00 am hour and David during their 6:00 am hour today Los Angeles time.

May 15, 2000: David and Sheena were on Mark & Brian Radio this morning on KLOS 95.5 (Los Angeles). DC talked briefly with Mark and Brian about his 70s concert stuff....they talked about wild sexcapades..but DC didn't tell a story about himself...but instead told about one of his road crew...DC had some of the same road crew as Led Zepplin had.
He talked about the fact that he flew in from Vegas and Beau is now 9.  The connection was lost for the rest of this conversation.
Sheena and David talked about their show.  Sheena stated that the best part of the show was that she gets to grab DCs buns every nice and she did comment on the fact that DC has a very nice one :)  She commented that some of David's fans look at her like she is not going to make it to her car at night after the show (right after the bun squeezing).
DC and Sheena talk about the plot of  At the Copa and how it is a love triangle...and Sheena is the sandwich.  At first DC describes the show as that Sheena is a pornographic sex star and his character is a homosexual cross dresser and Ruby tries to convert him from his non-successful lifestyle.....then he laughed (very sexy almost evil).
They asked Sheena and David if they liked living in Vegas....Sheena stated that it is a great place to raise your kids.  DC indicated he does not want to live in LA again.
They played Sheena singing Somewhere over the Rainbow from a production of the Wizard of Oz.  DC said that it is an honor to be able to sing with her every night.  While they were playing the song...DC says "hurt me" and that Dorothy has been bad and needs to be punished.
They then talked about how they warm up their voice....DC did this screaching thing...but Sheena plays CDs and listens along.
They then asked Sheena if she is difficult in a relationship and she said because of her work ethic...she is.  Then DC asked her if she likes to be "spanked" and claims it is something he always wanted to know about her (I don't think she answered).
DC then said he has been with Sue for 14 years.
DC then spoke about the fact that he wrote At the Copa....he likes being in charge of the auditions (insert sexy evil laugh here).
They asked DC where he would like to be and he said in a Sling on a beach in Miami in his banana hammock.
DC said he loves performing and that he likes to "swing" (assuming musical style here and not swinging fences).  He said he would love to go out and perform and I think he said he plans to do a film next year??  He just wants to keep working and not live in LA anymore.  He did state that he and Sheena are no longer having an affair (insert another sexy evil laugh).
DC was asked about his father and he said that he would have spoken to his dad in the last nine months of his life.. that hindsight is a great leveller.  He would have been wiser and more forgiving and learned to swallow more (of his dad's crap...not those words exactly).  All he wanted was for his dad to be proud of him and love him... He had to do his own soul searching and learn to forgive himself.
Then this fan called to tell him how much he liked his show.  She missed him in EFX but thought At the Copa was wonderful.  DC asked her to hold the line so he could invite her as his guest the next time she came to see the show (green with envy here!!... That should have been me...and I have a clicking finger to prove I am a much better fan than she!!)  Apparently she shared
"that special eye contact" with DC during her last visit (the part in quotes is DC's own words).
They thanked them both for stopping in....DC made some last comment about Sheena being his whipping girl.... and the last words from DC's mouth were God Bless. (Thanks to Suzi from the David Cassidy Chat List for sharing this with us.)

May 19, 2000: The Las Vegas Sun writes: American Federation of Musicians Local 369 just completed its third collective bargaining agreement since Jan. 1 ... The agreements cover the Wayne Newton Orchestra at the Stardust and the Lon Bronson orchestras backing David Cassidy and Sheena Easton (Rio) and "The Rat Pack Is Back" at the Sahara ...Every show should have live music.

May 21, 2000: Happy Birthday to David's Mom, Evelyn!!!

May 26, 1974: ON THIS DAY IN MUSIC HISTORY: The crowd loses control at a London concert by teen heartthrob David Cassidy. More than 1,000 people need medical treatment and a 14-year-old girl dies.

May 28, 2000: The Las Vegas Review-Journal writes: Sahara uses magic -- and other strategies -- to win customers
By David Mirhadi

When gaming entrepreneur William Bennett bought the Sahara in 1995 for $193 million, he had a vision for revitalizing the north end of the Strip.
About $100 million later, the 48-year-old hotel has taken on a new and ambitious look.
"We're definitely on the way back," said Craig Hodgkins, the Sahara's president and general manager.
The hotel at 2535 Las Vegas Blvd. South has a new facade and the main entrance and porte-cochere have been restyled and relocated. The casino has quadrupled in size and the rooms renovated. "The Rat Pack Is Back" took up residence in the Congo Room earlier this year while magician Steve Wyrick awaits a new showroom for his act.
Motor sports fans are enticed through the race-car simulators and the new NASCAR Cafe. And for thrill-seekers, there's the new roller coaster Speed -- The Ride.
These could end up being prosperous times for the Sahara, a resort that was briefly considered for the wrecking ball a few years ago. Bennett saved the place, Hodgkins said, because of the employees, and because of the vision he had for the hotel.
Instead of trying to compete with the marble-and-prix-fixe crowd, the Sahara offers a more economical alternative. That means $1 live blackjack, all hours of the day, a practice Bennett instituted more than a year ago; room rates that average less than $70 during peak periods; and drinks priced lower than many other Strip hotels. The Sahara Buffet has the lowest prices for brunch and dinner of any hotel on the Strip. Tickets to "The Rat Pack Is Back," a show that re-creates some of Las Vegas' glory days, are $34.95, making it one of the more inexpensive acts on the Strip.
All of this has translated into higher occupancy rates for the hotel, which, at one point, hovered around 80 percent. Today, Sahara officials estimated, room occupancy is about 89 percent on most weekends.
Hodgkins declined to release the Sahara's profits, but he said the hotel has made a substantial turnaround since Bennett took over. "We're on the right track," he said.
"We do things to get people to come in the door," Hodgkins added. "If you do enough of those things, it will go in your favor. We're definitely value, but we're also someplace where you don't get lost in a crowd."
The blackjack, he said, is a perfect example. "It was a hook. If you do the math on that, it's not profitable, but it works for us. People want their money to last, they don't want to lose $200 in a half-hour. This is the place where we want you to play for a while."
"Business has been great," agreed Mark Dyer, owner of the 75,000-square-foot NASCAR Cafe. "The restaurant and the coaster have given us a substantial boost."
Dyer said he hopes the roller coaster will draw 1 million riders by the end of the year.
"It takes a while to totally change the perception of a place, and what the coaster is doing is telling people, `Hey, I gotta get down to the Sahara and ride that thing.' The coaster and the cafe have brought in a lot more people than we ever imagined. ... As far as I'm concerned, the hard part's done, and that was building this thing. If we get someone on property to look at it, and they're dazzled by it, then we've done our job," he said.
Wyrick said the move to the Sahara is a bold step for him. His $10 million magic show is expected to open in the new 900-seat Sahara Theater next month.
"It's a pretty big hop to go to the Sahara," said Wyrick, who was courted by two other Strip properties for his services, "but I don't think I could be working for a nicer man (than Bennett)."
Wyrick is moving after 2 1/2 years at the Lady Luck downtown.
"The Sahara is a property that's growing, that's definitely on the move," he noted. "I feel like we're going to have a great show and be able to do things here that we weren't able to do at the Lady Luck."
Wyrick's bigger theater will include such dramatic illusions as making a stock car and full-size helicopter disappear. But he said he hopes the show will prove to be affordable at $34.95. A magic shop is being built just outside the theater.
John McManus, Sahara vice president and general counsel, said looking to the Sahara's past by securing the "Rat Pack" show could bode well for its future.
"This place was part of that era, and we think it really makes a statement for us," said McManus, who negotiated with co-producer David Cassidy to bring the show to the Congo Room from the Desert Inn, after losing Cassidy's "At the Copa" to the Rio. "We thought the show would be a nice complement (to Steve Wyrick)."
The show, which has played to critical if not commercial success since opening at the Sahara this spring, is drawing more audiences as the hotel is rediscovered.
"The first couple of weeks of any show are slow, because you have to get the word out," McManus said. "We used to be part of the real glamour scene in Las Vegas, and we want to take advantage of that. The show gives us a lot of sincerity and believability."
"We're happy with the show, and its popularity is growing rapidly," Hodgkins said. "We expect to make money on it."
In the coming months, the Sahara may embark on a multimillion-dollar convention center on Paradise Road behind the hotel, though no plans have been set. The hotel has been without a convention venue since the former Space Center was converted into a buffet in 1997. There also is talk of a major entertainment-dining venue. Bennett's purchase of the hotel also included a 44-acre parcel across the Strip. There are no plans to develop the property at this time, Hodgkins said.
In many cases, the Sahara is not doing anything new. The hotel has a magician, just like other Strip venues. It has a roller coaster, just like its well-heeled competition farther down the Strip. It has the ubiquitous upscale dinner house, too.
"We're not reinventing the wheel. You give people a good deal, they'll tell their friends and come back," McManus said.
"Value doesn't mean cheap. It just means you walked away and you got your money's worth," Hodgkins added. "You hear a lot about tradition, and that's what this place was built on. There aren't a whole lot of places like this left."

May 28, 2000: The Las Vegas Review-Journal writes: ... Shirley Jones, checking into the Las Vegas Hilton on Thursday and requesting her room be comped. Odd, considering she was in town to see stepson David Cassidy perform "At the Copa," which plays at the Rio.

May 29, 2000: The Las Vegas Review-Journal writes: ... David Cassidy's fund-raising golf tournament at Rio Secco on June 11 could turn into a "Partridge Family" reunion. Co-star Shirley Jones is among the commitments for the "Totally Groovy '70s Polyester Ball" that night at the Rio.

May 30 - June 5, 2000: Dark days at the Rio. David Cassidy will not perform this week.

May 30, 2000: David was on Jammin' 105 Radio in New York with Jay Thomas in the morning.

May 30, 2000: David was on MSNBC News at 1:30PM and  on "Homepage" on MSNBC today.

May 31, 2000: David was on The Rob & Rob Show on 104.1 in New Orleans this morning.

May 31, 2000: David was on Fox & Friends on the Fox Network this morning at 7:47-8AM. The biggest surprise was when their DJ "Mancow" (with C'mon Get Happy playing in the background) said what a loser Danny Bonaduce was but he loved David Cassidy and David Cassidy was COOL!  Imagine a DJ calling DC cool!!!
Right before David's introduction, you could hear him muttering not to call him a former teen idol, call him a former murderer. The female host said "Why, were you a murderer?"  David: "No, but I would have to become one for people to stop calling me a teen idol."
So they said, "You know him previously from TV and now he's starring in Vegas." David Cassidy was wearing a clinging olive-green knit shirt, black pants and a black jacket.  You could see very visible pecks through his shirt...David must be working out!
The male host asked David if people, especially women, go up to him and tell him "I love you." David laughed and said it's nice that people care and still remember him.  He spoke how he's able to star and produce two shows in Vegas because of the support of his fans who have been with him from the very beginning and how special they were to him.  He talked about the impact the Partridge Family made on people's lives and how musicians and actors come up to him all the time and say how they got into show business because of him.  He feels very proud of his past.
The female host mentioned Tina Louise who won't acknowledge Gillian's Island.  David said there's a Partridge Family member who won't talk about the Partridge Family till this day and the host said, "Is it the LA Law girl?" (Susan Dey) and David said he wouldn't mention names.
They showed footage from his Copa show and a sexy clip of him embracing Sheena.  He also talked about KidsCharities and his upcoming golf tournament.  Then they had him go backstage where they set up a miniature golf set and DC putted a shot.  He got a hole in one the 2nd try. (Thanks to Megan for this information)

May 31, 2000: David appeared live on ABC TV's syndicated talk show, "The View" this morning:
So, what's David's take on our Hot Topics discussion about sixth-grade students receiving sex surveys at school? He has already had "the talk" with his nine-year-old son, who heard some 10- and 11-year-olds talking about it at a Little League game. "How do you respond to 'What is sex?'" asks David. "It's a big umbrella...I told him about the actual act and what takes place and how babies are made, and he looked at me and he went, 'You didn't do that with Mama?'"
Both David's son and 14-year-old daughter want to be entertainers. Since David has had success as an actor, producer, songwriter and producer, he can protect them from the scams and the parasites in the business. "My parents were not educated in terms of business and didn't know the pitfalls of making a lot of money," he says. "They were preoccupied with the work...You have to be a much more savvy person now. There's a lot of pitfalls. It's a lot more competitive."
David currently stars in At The Copa, a Las Vegas show that he wrote and co-executive produced. He calls it a hybrid between a Broadway musical and a headliner performance in Vegas. David plays Johnny Flamingo, a waiter who becomes a star when the headliner is shot. Johnny eventually falls in love with Ruby Bombay, played by Sheena Easton.
David is also involved in kidscharities.org, which embraces 60 to 70 children's-related charities. The David Cassidy Celebrity Golf Tournament takes place on June 10 and 11 on the Rio Secco Golf Course in Las Vegas. The Totally Groovy '70s Polyester Ball takes place on June 11 at the Rio Hotel and Suites, also in Las Vegas. Visit kidscharities.org for more information.  Visit ABC online at: www.abc.com

WHAT THE NEWSPAPERS SAY:

SHOWBIZ WEEKLY:

David Cassidy's "At the Copa" catapults to success

By Hilary L Green

It has been a long time since David Cassidy first crooned his megahit "I Think I Love You" to millions of fans all over the world. The former teen heartthrob has enjoyed a long and varied career since those heady days when his photograph was plastered on magazine covers and posters, and his every move was documented on camera.

After a string of Grammy Award nominations, 18 gold and platinum records, worldwide sold-out concerts and the largest fan club in entertainment history, Cassidy emerged from his overwhelmingly popular teenage success with a strong work ethic. He applied his early training and went on to hone his considerable talents as an actor and a singer, adding songwriting to his ever-expanding creative skills.

Cassidy was nominated for an Emmy Award for his role in the television movie, A Chance To Live, and he starred in the original production of Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat." He appeared with Lord Olivier in "Time in London," and in 1994, Cassidy broke box office records with his performance in "Blood Brothers" on Broadway.

After a successful national tour with "Blood Brothers," and a sold-out run at the Prince Albert Theater in Toronto, Cassidy was offered the opportunity to star in MGM Grand's "EFX." By accepting the role, Cassidy was able to participate in the restructuring of the part, including writing some of the music for the show. Within four months of Cassidy's November 1996 opening in "EFX," he was voted "Best All-Around Performer" and "Best Singer" by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, and the show was voted "Best Production Show" in the same poll.

Cassidy's next project was writing and producing "The Rat Pack Is Back" with partner Don Reo. The show enjoyed enthusiastic crowds and critical acclaim at The Desert Inn Resort and recently moved into new digs at the Sahara Hotel. Buoyed by his success, Cassidy entered into an agreement with the Rio to create and star in his own show, "At The Copa."

Cassidy wrote and produced "At The Copa," in which he co-stars with Grammy Award-winner Sheena Easton. They play Johnny Flamingo and Ruby Bombay, performers whose love affair ignites the show's plot. The story chronicles their lives over several decades and incorporates a wide spectrum of musical styles. With support from the 19-piece Lon Bronson Band which is onstage throughout the show, Cassidy and Easton perform a string of powerful standards, as well as a couple of their individual hits, thanks to the show-within-a-show format.

"At The Copa" is a high-energy tale of love and mystique surrounded by marvelous music and dancing, mixed with a lot of humor.

"My character is somewhat autobiographical ... humorous, ironic, tragic and a survivor," Cassidy explains. "The story has a wide and dramatic arc. We never take ourselves too seriously. It's about making people laugh while blowing the roof off the joint!"

"At The Copa" is fun for the whole family. Cassidy thinks you'll love it.

Play: After Your Round

You've Played 18 or 36 and the Night is Young. What to do?
Golfer Cassidy debuts "At the Copa"

David Cassidy, a fixture on the celebrity charity tournament scene, recently debuted his new production show at the Rio Suite Hotel & Casino. Cassidy is right at home at the Rio since the hotel owns and operates the exclusive Rio Secco Golf Club. Guests at the Rio receive preferred access at the course. But Cassidy hasn't had much time lately to perfect his swing. Cassidy, the former teen idol on the Partridge Family, has spent hours writing, producing and starring in "At the Copa". Cassidy co-stars in the combination Broadway Musical and headlining concert with Sheena Easton. Passion, betrayal and love all play throughout the fast-paced storyline of the show. The behind-the-scenes-love-story between Johnny Flamingo (Cassidy) and Ruby Bombay (Easton) is the focus of the show but throughout Easton and Cassidy find the time to sing their hit songs. "It's about making people laugh, great music and a production that blows the roof off!" Cassidy says.

The Dowagiac Dogwood Fine Arts Festival (Dowagiac, Michigan) is proud to announce its music event will be an evening with Academy Award-winning singer/actress Shirley Jones. The Dogwood Festival is honored to have an entertainer of Ms. Jones's caliber as part of this year's festival.
Internationally known for her starring roles in the movies "Oklahoma," "The Music Man" and "Carousel," Shirley Jones won an Oscar for "Elmer Gantry." Equally famous as the mother in TV's "Partridge Family," she has also starred on Broadway in shows like "South Pacific," "The Sound of Music," and "Show Boat." Bob Hope called her "The first lady of American song."
Conducting Ms. Jones orchestra will be Mr. Ron Abel.
Visit Shirley's very own web site at www.ShirleyJones.com.

According to Shirley Jones Fan Club, Shirley will be attending David's golf tournament June 10-11.

Look for Patrick Cassidy's "Breakfast at Tiffany's" to be released in a 2-CD set in June. Producer David Merrick died recently which held up production, but now they are optimistic that the CD will out in selected retail outlets and through mail order from Original Cast Records, priced at $24.95.
The company is also negotiating to release David's "EFX" cast CD commercially. "EFX" is a great CD that needs to be made available to fans all over the world. In other words, great news for Cassidy fans.
Thanks to Cheryl C. at the Friends of the Cassidys Fan Club for this info.

Sue Shifrin-Cassidy's Third Annual EAT'M Conference will be held June 7-9 at the Rio All-Suites Resort & Casino. Sue will speak on the topic "How to be a Working Songwriter without having a Hit Record." Thanks to Cheryl C. for this info.

Shaun Cassidy (American Gothic)
His Gothic scripts sparkle with both clever dialogue amd thematic weight, but following projects have not built on that quality.  Roar had great moments but was a disappointment overall, and Hollyweird - a series I anticipated greatly - was eventually not picked up by the networks. It's too early to render a judgment on his new show, Cover Me.  Was American Gothic a one-time flash of brilliance?
(Look at who Shaun beat out as here are the Honorable mentions)
Honorable mentions:  David Chase (The Sopranos), David E, Kelley (Picket Fences, Chicago Hope, Ally McBeal, The Practice), David Lynch (Twin Peaks, On the Air), Rick Mercer (Made in Canada), Darin Morgan (The X-files), Harley Peyton (Twin Peaks), Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel)

May 7, 2000: Happy 5th Anniversary to Shaun & Susan!!!

May 15, 2000: Both Shaun and David were on ABC news today - Shaun was on during their 5:00 am hour and David during their 6:00 am hour today Los Angeles time. First off Shaun's interview was pre-taped, how long ago I don't know.  They basically told how he started in the business as a singer, and they showed some concert and Hardy Boys footage of him singing.  And then they showed him saying that all he was interested in was Who was going to be his girlfriend on the show (Hardy Boys) next  week.  Then the went into how he sort of disappeared from view, and resurfaced on General Hospital, and they showed some footage of that, and once again went back to Shaun and he said he has great admiration for soap actors  as they only have days to learn their lines. Then they started talking about how he sold a few scripts for shows, and that now he's working on Cover Me and gave a background of the show. And then Shaun once again, saying that the family was like actors acting in a circus and he grew up in the similar light so he got it. Then it goes to what his plans and dreams are and Shaun goes on to say that he would like to open a Vineyard, make a Camp for Kids, write a novel, direct a movie, and live in Fiji.  And he hopes that one day he'll be able to do all of the above. (Thanks to Val from the Shaun Cassidy Chat list for sharing this with us.)

May 25, 2000: Happy 36th Birthday, Susan Diol!!!
