Chapter 9
I invited him to sit on the couch beside me, it was 11:00, and I was tired already. I yawned. We had basically been talking about nothing for the past 15 minutes, and personally, I didn't mind. "So, who's Chris?" he finally asked again.
"Chris?" I stalled for time. He nodded. I fake yawned. "Geez, I'm tired, maybe I should head on home.."
"Nono!" he chuckled. "Cmon, tell me! I'll be your best frrrriend!?" He posed it as a question. "I promise, on my life I will not tell anyone or talk to anyone about this Chris guy, unless of course, you are there with me." he smiled, holding out a pinky. I intertwined mine with his. I couldn't resist.
"Jimmy..." I paused. I was scared. "Chris is this guy I've had a crush on for about five years," I stared at the ground.
"Five years? Geez, you'd think he'd notice after five years..." He laughed.
"I've only known him for a couple weeks, though." He stared at me. "See, I used to watch him on T.V. all the time... now, I work with him." He raised an eyebrow. I nodded.
"Kattan?" He smiled.
"He's not gay!" I laughed.
"Oooh, I can't wait to tell him!" he giggled. I gave him an evil look. "I'm kidding... but can I say one thing?" I nodded, ashamed. "You don't have to be shy around me or anything, you can tell me anything, alright?"
I laughed. "This sounds like Full House."
He smiled at me. "Can I at least throw in your name a bit whenever I talk to him... I'd be like, 'Did you see Cathy on Wednesday? Man, she's hot! What do you think?' How's that?"
I laughed. "Please, he doesn't even know I'm here." I looked up at him. He was closer to me than before now.
"Well, he's crazy if he can't see you the way I do," He stared down at my lips, then back at my eyes. Was he going to kiss me? He can't! I just told him I had a crush on someone I work with, how can that attract him to me?
"I've gotta get going, though. Thanks, Jim." I smiled, pulling myself as far away from him as I could.
"Right, I'll see you on Thursday, alright, Cat?"
