But there is another side to it: He likes novels, particularly thrillers,
and that throws light on the other aspect of his personality.
Thus don't be fooled by his quiet demeanour: Rahul Dravid has his
share of intimate friends and he parties with them whenever he can
take time off his cricket. It can be said that Dravid is an introvert,
but as is often the case, that is only with strangers and people he's
meeting for the first time. Thus it comes as no surprise that he loves
the singing of Kishore Kumar too, another Jekyll and Hyde.
He did not make too many friends in college, due to cricket, he confesses. But the number of friends he made on the cricket field, without ever meeting them, runs into very high figures, a majority of them being girls.
Though Rahul Dravid plays down his good looks - "Being good-looking is not an achievement in itself. I tend to value my cricketing achievements more." - he has a great following among girls of all ages, from 13 to 80. He even received a proposal for marriage recently in Australia but, unfortunately, the thing could not proceed further as he was batting against Pakistan at the time!
However numerous may Dravid's faces be, for his legions of fans, he has but one face, the face of the future of Indian cricket.
Rahul
Dravid is an intelligent, intense and quiet guy who prefers to
keep to himself. He likes to read books, and his reading tastes often run into the serious genres of autobiographies and "philosophical stuff", and he says he likes his reading to be instructive. That's fairly consistent with his public image.
