I believe in fate. I never planned my career in films. It just happened to me like modelling had, a few years earlier. I remember I was studying in Jai Hind College, when some guys from Colgate had come to select models for their ad commercial. They chose me and the there started my tryst with the glamour business. Before that I had never even thought of getting into this line. Once I did that ad, people around me forced me to get my portfolio clicked, and after that the work started pouring in.
My life changed after I did the Rajshri video. It so happened that they (the Rajshris) saw me somewhere and called me to their office. I met Rajat Barjatya and Kunal Kohli and showed them my pictures, which they hated. But strangely they still selected me for the video without even screen testing me. Once that video released, I became famous overnight. It was a really popular video and everywhere I went, people called me the 'Chuimui si' girl. In my college, people wore that toy which was used in the video. I did four more videos for the Rajshri's after that for the same album and they were really happy with my work.
Then out of the blue, I got an offer for a Malayalam film, which was remake of another south super-hit film. I took it up because it was an interesting story and they wanted to shoot the entire film in Austria within a month. It turned out to be a super-hit. After that, I did a Tamil film, Halo with Prashant, which also became a jubilee hit. The south offers wouldn't stop after that but I didn't sign any more movies after that.
One fine day I got a call from the Yash Raj office asking me to come there. I went and met Aditya who was casting for Mohabbatein then. He saw me, and immediately told me that I fit the role perfectly and that I would be doing his film. It was almost like a fairy-tale, no screen test, nothing. The entire experience of doing Mohabbatein is unforgettable. I'll cherish it all my life. I learnt so much, made friends, but most of all it made me realize that I wanted to pursue acting full time as a career. Today I'm doing a couple of good projects, which should keep me busy for a while. Being an actress is a full time job, and I want to give it my best shot. For someone who got into glamour Ville accidentally, I've come a long way, baby!"
