The Basics
Anne is the second child and only daughter of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. She was born on August 15, 1950 at Clarence House and was christened Anne Elizabeth Alice Louise. Anne was educated at the Palace and then she went to Benendan School in Kent. She is an accomplished rider and participated in the 1976 Olympics, as a member of the 3 day event team. It was during these riding shows that she met Captain Mark Phillips. They were married on November 14, 1973 at Westminster Abbey. The couple have two children; Peter, born on November 15, 1977 and Zara, born on July 27, 1981. Their marriage did not work(see a pattern) and it was dissolved in April of 1992. Later that year she married Captain Timothey Laurence at a private ceremony in Scotland. The Princess remains active in Public life and chairs many commitees, especially those that have to do with horse back riding.
