CROWDED ROOM

His lips were the colour of spring roses.
He leaned back on the sofa.
The PVC trousers were tight against his legs.
He looked up at her with his black-rimmed eyes,
Their centres crystal blue.
She couldn't tear her gaze away.
Her heartbeat was the only measure of time.
Conscious of nothing else in the room,
They watched each other.
He ran his fingers through his spiky hair,
Purple nails catching the light.
His eyes dropped to the ground
Then looked up at her again, shyly.
He was smiling a little.
Then someone nudged her, and she looked away.
Just one second; but when she looked back, he was gone.
Feeling her heart sink, she reluctantly turned away.
Then a hand touched her arm; she glanced down.
Shiny purple nails...
