FORGIVENESS

Good evening to one and all, in the name of Jesus Christ.
The source of forgiveness is love. Love is an important element of our religion. Jesus ‘s commandments were based on love which was, “ Love your neighbour as your self.’ When we mean love others, we mean forgive others too.
Forgiveness is an act of love, and in love, one does not put another down, in stead lifts him from depression. God blesses those who forgive with a large and merciful heart.
Jesus said to his followers “Be perfect as your Father in heaven is perfect.”
Forgiveness is difficult, especially for those who have been brought up in an atmosphere of harshness, holding grudge, having various form of anger.
But we must forgive because it will give us peace of mind and health of our body. If we can forgive and forget we will be more similar to our Father in heaven.
In the Lord’s Prayer (Matthew6: 12) says that, “forgive the sins that we have done, just as we have forgiven those who did wrong to us.”
Now the question arises how do we forgive?
To forgive the decision is ours and we need to make it.
Some people say, yes I have forgiven but God will teach them a lesson.
One sure sign is that these peoples don’t want to forgive.
If we really want to forgive we need to pray for the grace of forgiveness from God.
We see in Luke23:34 When Jesus was dying on the cross.
He asks his Father “Father, forgive them. They don’t know what they are doing.
By this we have received in fullness the grace of forgiveness from our Almighty God.
So St Paul in Col 3:12-15 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe your self with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of body you were called to peace. And be thankful.
So if want to forgive and love our enemy. We must pray for them. We must bless them. We must do good for them.
