LITTLE HEAVEN
TURN OUR HEARTS TOWARDS HOME  2

By Glen Leo Mendonca,

                                                                    Pastoral Associate

"Do you and I hunger and thirst for that deep spiritual milk - - - - - God?

I believe there are many hungers that gnaw at our hearts and we are in need of nourishment for the same. Again you and I do not usually experience multiplication in our affairs unless we have first - - prayed.

Drawn from personal encounters and experiences in my life the only answer is Jesus and I encounter him in prayer as I challenge myself daily to more intimately know and appreciate my Rafa (healer) and my Jaireh (provider). Matthew cpt. 6: 5-14; 25-34 & Cpt. 7: 7-11 and so encourage you to Come awhile where ever, how ever and what ever and taste and see that the Lord is good indeed.

As one gets up in the morning smile, feel good ‘about just being alive for ‘this is the day that the Lord has made – let us rejoice and be glad in it’. It’s good morning! Lord. With the cross sign yourself entrusting yourself and your family members by name to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit for the day is only Through Him, With Him and In Him.

In the bathroom – sing his praises, making melody in your heart unto the King of Kings. Say to yourself Alleuelia! I am alive, I am well and I feel great. I am rejoicing today as I walk the narrow way for the comforter abides in me. In the shower renew your baptismal promises to stick to the Lord and his ways and to all that is pure, noble, holy and good.

At the breakfast table entrust the work behind the showers of blessing and remember with gratefulness what many do not have. As you leave home pray for protection on yourself and on the family members, Psalm 91 or Numbers Cpt. 6:24-26. Or the prayer to St. Michael’s the Archangel or your very own guardian angel.

As you start the car ignition entrust the key and the driver seat to the good lord - let Him take over. At those irritating traffic signal intersections or traffic jams intercede that the Lord Bless the people who are in the other vehicles next to you and around you. A good prayer for calmness, serenity and self-control is that of repetition: like the Memorare, The Hail Mary, and The Glory. Surround yourself with good Christian music by tape or CD.

In the commuting bus or cab one could pray the rosary, or read the Bible or some good Christian literature (rather than the paperback of fiction etc.,). At the parking lot if you have to search for a spot or at the elevator if it stops at every floor, just pray a prayer of Praise and Thanks giving by saying Thank you Lord. Psalm 34:2-3. Or Philippians CPT 4: 4-7. At work entrust it all to God as an acceptable sacrifice Psalm 50 ‘God sees us’. Make all work part of your prayer life - - let everything be done well and for the glory of God,

Returning home to roost thank God for the family. While exercising or doing chores with a walk-man on - listen to Christian music or the Bible on audio-tape or as you relax tune into a Christian radio / TV station (99.1 fm or EWTN) or browse the web for Catholic sites. Instead of the newspaper read Good News, the Bible. And before retiring, recite a decade of the Rosary, or the Angelus and lastly recollect one’s childhood prayer - -"I lay my body down to sleep - -. So don’t forget – ‘Come and Rest awhile all the while’.

God bless and peace be with you all.
