« The King's Daughter »

She wore a crown of ebony curls,
Was adored and admired by little girls.
Her eyes so bright, her skin so fair,
The way she walked with a certain flair.
Many had come from far and wide,
To be chosen as the one to be by her side.
Yet one after another she turned them down flat,
"You expect me to be seen in public with that?!"
The poor king tried to make his daughter comply,
What else could he do? There were none left to try.
"I've tried and I've failed," the king said to the queen,
"She's the stubbornest girl I've ever seen!"
"What, oh, what are we to do?"
The poor king cried, "I haven't a clue!"
One night the princess took a walk by the sea,
"I wish my old father would just let me be!"
She cried out to the ocean and to her surprise,
A young man there stood to be by her side,
All dressed up in suits of armor and things,
He said, "I'm the son of a faraway king."
The prince and the princess soon fell in love,
And the wedding was everything the king dreamed of.
Finally the old King's wish had come true,
His daughter was now married and far away too!
