Matthew Rhys, 26, was born in Cardiff, the son of teachers. Having started at RADA in 1993, he won the Patricia Rothermere Scholarship for best drama student. He went on to win Best Actor at the Welsh Baftas for his role in the film Bydd yn Wrol (Be Brave). He appeared in the film Titus with Anthony Hopkins and starred in the West End play The Graduate last year. His latest film, Peaches, has just been released.
What is your idea of perfect happiness?
550 millilitres of black and 25 millimetres of white (Guinness).
What is your greatest fear?
Rats and failure.

Any British farmer.

My constant self-criticism.

Arrogance and rudeness.
