A Quebec newspaper, "Le Soleil", reports that the spokewoman of Céline said that sooner or later, Céline and René will give out official photos of their new born son. But first they want to enjoy their new baby and they will wait a few weeks before showing him to the world.
29 January 2001
René-Charles must have patience before he will see his grandmother. Mrs. Dion is in Paris to record six emissions of "Maman Dion". Thérèse Dion, the mother of Céline Dion is the most famous grandmother of Quebec. Mrs Dion will arrive in Montreal Wednesday afternoon. But her grandson René-Charles has to wait a few days more before his grandmother will lean over his cradle... " I will go to Florida the 6th or 7th of February, explained Mrs. Dion, Tuesday evening, at the end of her last recording day accompanied by the singer Julien Clerc. I had already planned to go to New York for a couple of days. Céline wanted me to go there. In any case, all is well and Céline is well surrounded," underlined Mrs. Dion. But it is sure that if there had been a problem, I would have jumped on the first plane and I would be already over there. Maman Dion was in the Bristol Hotel (the Parisian de luxe hotel where her daughter and her son-in-law always stay) when Céline called to announce to her that her 33rd grandchild was going to be born earlier than expected. She could follow the last phase of the childbirth by telephone: At seven o'clock in the morning, Céline called me from the hospital. She said to me: "We didn't sleep at all last night. He's there, he's there." And I heard the first cries the little one. I could not speak to René because I cried."

Grandmaman chats about 'petit prince'
ALAN HUSTAK
The Montreal Gazette
Celine Dion's mother, Therese-Tanguay Dion, went online for an hour to answer questions about the birth of her celebrated grandson yesterday. Grandmaman Dion, who is at the Hotel Bristol in Paris shooting episodes of her television cooking show with French celebrities, went on the Canoe chat line at noon local time yesterday to talk with fans. She said she has not yet seen a picture of the infant who was born on Thursday, but heard his first cries over the phone. "I haven't seen him. Céline told me that he looks a bit like both of them. With a mix like that, I am sure that he's the most beautiful baby in the world." She said she would prefer to wait and see the baby rather than get pictures sent to her online.
"I can't wait to get to hug him. I have some gifts for the baby, but those are personal. I am going to give him lots of love." Grandmaman Dion said she was on the Internet to reply to questions because she was too busy to respond to all the requests for interviews. However, she was selective about which questions she answered. She claimed not to know five doctors were present, and that the baby was delivered by caesarean section. She also declined to reply when asked what she thought of reports the first picture of Rene-Charles could fetch as much as $200,000 U.S.
Dion said she will fly to Montreal on Thursday to repack her bags, then join her daughter in Florida on Friday. The family has already nicknamed Rene-Charles "le petit prince." The infant is her 33rd grandchild, and she also has seven great grandchildren. The child will probably be sent to schools in both Quebec and the U.S., she said.
She wasn't at all concerned the boy might be spoiled or isolated in an environment that shelters him from the real world. "His parents are open and intelligent, so I am sure they will want to give their son the best education he can get. I don't see anything artificial about that."
She also expects her daughter will return to her singing career. "She adores singing. It is what she does. I can't give you an exact date. I don't know when, but I am certain she will resume her career."
Asked if she planned to teach the boy how to cook, she quipped: "If he wants me to. If I am still around."

Dr. Pitkow, one of the five doctors who helped delivering the baby said in an interview that everyone was very emotional when the baby was born, everybody who was in the room had tears in their eyes. Michel Jasmin also commented on the birth of René-Charles. He said that the hospital is at 40 minutes of the Dion-Angélil residence, this is what he said:" I would not be surprised that they carried out the way on several occasions before the childbirth." Michel Jasmin also said that at the time of the child birth,Céline's dad, Adhémar, was in Florida, while Céline's mom was in France to record a TV program. On the Montreal Gazette (read the article below), it quotes one of the doctors saying that Céline is playing with her new son all the time, and that the baby is very alert, always smiley, and an ideal baby too, who sleeps well, and gives Céline time to rest. Another article from Gazette said that Céline was given a police escort to the Palms West Hospital, a half-hour car trip from her home. "She deserves it," said Joelle Gonzalez, a Florida mother who had brought her daughter Gabrielle to the hospital with the flu. "She's a big star. We love her here. We wish her all the best." Amid tight security, Rene returned to the modern four-storey hospital late last night carrying a black bag. He looked every bit like an exhausted new father. Céline is expected to bring the baby home today.
Céline Dion playing with her new son, who's eating and sleeping well: doctor
MONTREAL (CP) - Baby René-Charles, Céline Dion's pride and joy, is "so alert, so smiley" that he isn't giving his mom any trouble, her doctor said Friday. "The kid is fabulous," Dr. Ronald Ackerman said from his office in West Palm Beach, Fla.
"Celine does not stop playing with the baby. The baby is absolutely, incredibly fabulous. He's so alert, he's so smiley." The child arrived Thursday, three weeks ahead of the Valentine's Day due date.
Ackerman, who has been Dion's doctor for four years, was responsible for the in vitro fertilization treatments that she received at a New York clinic. The successful treatments brought a happy ending to her much-publicized struggle to have a child.
The baby weighed in at six pounds eight ounces. Ackerman said the newborn's health is fine and added the infant is eating well and giving Dion time to rest.
"Everything is 100 per cent beautiful," said Ackerman, one of five doctors who helped Dion deliver the infant. "The baby is an ideal baby. The baby sleeps great."
Dion, who is likely to be singing lullabies to her son or maybe even humming her hit song, The Power of Love, doesn't want to be away from him.
Her husband and manager, René Angélil, has also been spending "every night" at the hospital with Céline and baby, he said. "He doesn't miss a minute with the baby."
René-Charles was named after his father and Dion's paternal grandfather, Charles.
Dion was in labour for about 14 hours, Dr. Steven Pitkow, who also assisted in the delivery, has said in an interview with the TVA television network.
Word of the birth was one of the top stories on French and English newscasts Thursday in Quebec and made the front page of newspapers in the province Friday.
Many Quebecers have followed Dion's career and personal life with an almost protective interest and pride since she rose to stardom from her small-town roots in Charlemagne, Que.
Ackerman wouldn't say when Céline, 32, and her son will leave hospital but he said there's no reason for a prolonged stay.
The couple turned to medical science to help conceive because Angélil had been diagnosed with cancer in 1999 and had been treated with radiation and chemotherapy after having a tumour removed from his neck.
As a result of Dion's treatment, it's likely René-Charles could one day have a brother or sister.
Dion gave her last concert in Montreal on New Year's Eve in 1999 and cited having a child as one of her main reasons for retiring for two years.
26 January 2001
Various sources say that Céline decided to give birth at her Florida home, however Céline's doctor has said that she gave birth in a hospital, he refused, to keep Céline's privacy, to give the name of the hospital. But several news agencies claim to know that Céline gave birth at Palms West Hospital in Palm Beach, Fla. 'The Montreal Gazette' reveals some new information about the birth of René-Charles, those are the most important parts of the article:
"Oh my God, he's perfect," an excited Dr. Ronald Ackerman, Céline's physician, said in an interview from his office in West Palm Beach, Fla. "Mother's doing stupendous. She's tired but looks fabulous and is doing great. René is as excited as I have ever seen him in four years." Baby René-Charles was named after his father - René - and Dion's paternal grandfather, Charles. Dion was in labour for about 14 hours, Dr. Steven Pitkow, who also assisted in the delivery, said in an interview with the TVA television network. Word of the birth was one of the top stories on French and English newscasts throughout the day in Quebec as newsrooms scrambled for details and interviews with family members. Dion's mother, Therese, who was in Paris at the time of the birth, said her daughter phoned her immediately afterwards to share the good news. "She called me five minutes after the delivery, when it was finished, I could hear the baby's cries," she told TVA ...
Ackerman was one of five doctors who helped Dion deliver the infant. Angelil, and one of her sisters, Linda, also were present. It was not clear Thursday when the public might get its first peek at the baby. "It's definitely not going to happen in the next week," said Ackerman. "Definitely not at the hospital."...
News of the baby's birth was first released to the media through Dion's publicist, Francine Chaloult. An assistant in Chaloult's office said no other details would be released. When asked why Dion chose to have the baby in the United States, she would only say that it was likely because the couple's doctor was there. Under citizenship laws in both Canada and the United States, René-Charles will hold both Canadian and U.S. citizenship.
NICOLAS VAN PRAET and ALAN HUSTAK
Claudette Dion-Gaudet, Celine's sister, was thrilled by yesterday's news.
Céline Dion, the Quebec pop superstar who was herself an unwanted child at first, has given birth to her first baby, a son named René-Charles Angélil. The baby arrived three weeks prematurely at 1 a.m. yesterday, and was delivered by caesarean section. Dion was given a police escort to the Palms West Hospital, a half-hour car trip from her home in Jupiter, Fla.
"Oh my God, he's perfect," said Dion's physician of four years, Ronald Ackerman. "Mother's doing stupendous. She's tired but looks fabulous and is doing great. (Her husband) is as excited as I have ever seen him in four years." Ackerman, one of five doctors who helped Dion deliver the infant, joked the baby was turning over already. "I swear that I saw him do that." The singer's husband-manager, Rene Angelil, and one of her sisters, Linda, also were present. The baby looks like both of his parents, Ackerman said.
Dr. Steven Pitkow, who also assisted in the delivery, told the TVA television network that Dion was in labour for about 14 hours.
Amid tight security, Angelil returned to the modern four-storey hospital late last night carrying a black bag. He looked every bit like an exhausted new father. It had been a long wait for the diva and her husband. The couple used in vitro fertilization to have the child. For years, Dion has dreamed of having a child of her own, just like the tykes crashing about the playblocks in the emergency room here - normal, healthy and, most of all, just hers.
Céline's sister Claudette Dion-Gaudet, who was in Florida three weeks ago, told The Gazette in a telephone interview from Terrebonne that "all three are extremely happy - papa, mama and the little boy." "Céline never thought she would ever be able to have children, so that's why the family is so thrilled, so happy for her," Claudette said. "It's like a miracle."
According to Ackerman, the success rate for in vitro fertilization, by whatever method, is less than 25 per cent. Ackerman said confidentiality rules prevented him from giving precise details of the birth. He refused to say if Dion would be breastfeeding the child. "She's doing everything a mother would normally do with a newborn," Ackerman said.
Dion's mother, Therese Tanguay-Dion, was in Paris when her 36th grandchild was born. She said her daughter phoned her immediately afterward to share the good news. "She called me five minutes after the delivery, when it was finished, I could hear the baby's cries," she told TVA. Tanguay-Dion has reportedly left for Florida to be with her daughter.
The child has been named after his father, René, and Dion's paternal grandfather, Charles. Because the baby was born in Florida, he is automatically a U.S. citizen. If he is to be a Canadian, Angelil and Dion will have to apply to the Canadian consulate to have him registered as a dual citizen.
Details as to when and where the infant will be baptized were not forthcoming. "We aren't giving out any more information for the moment," said Caroline Proulx, a spokesman for Dion's Montreal press office. "There will nothing further said, no further statements, no interviews given to anyone." U.S. tabloids and other entertainment publications immediately went on the hunt for exclusive information and photos. "It's certainly a top-shelf story for us," said Chris Wessling, a general editor with the National Enquirer. "She's a well-known worldwide celebrity having her first child and her desire to have a child is well-known." Dion withdrew a $20-million lawsuit against the Enquirer last year after it agreed to apologize for a false story saying she was pregnant with twins.
René-Charles is Dion's first child and Angélil's fourth. He and his first wife, Denise Duquette, have a son, Patrick, 33. A second son, Jean-Pierre, born to Angelil's former girlfriend, singer Anne-Renee Kirouac, will be 27 in March. Angélil's daughter with Kirouac, Anne-Marie, is 23.
Dion, 32, and Angélil, 59, were determined to have a child in spite of cancer treatments that might have left Angelil unable to father children. He had his sperm frozen before he underwent chemotherapy treatment in spring 1999. In order to have the baby, Dion was first injected with anti-estrogen to regulate and control ovulation, then given hormone treatments to stimulate superovulation. Several individual sperm were isolated and injected with small needles into Dion's ova. When the ova reached maturity last May 24, they were removed from her body, placed in a test tube, and reimplanted three days later. A second fertilized embryo is being stored.
"My child will grow with me, will follow me everywhere, will adapt to my rhythm of life," Dion said several years ago. "I don't want to deprive myself of singing and I want to have kids. I grew up with parents who did shows. I slept on restaurant benches, and I'm not worse for wear because of it." Becoming pregnant was a dream come true for Dion. And it surely took on added significance, given that she has admitted that she herself was an unwanted child. The youngest of 14 siblings, Dion said recently that she owes her life to a priest who convinced her mother not to abort during pregnancy. Thérèse Tanguay-Dion was devastated when she discovered that she was pregnant with Celine because, said Dion, "for more than 20 years, she'd been locked into a hellish cycle of washing, ironing and housework, 365 days a year. She'd thought, rightly, she'd done her duty." Once the priest convinced her to have Celine, her mother loved her as much as her other children, Dion said. No doubt this baby will be loved, too. Dion is expected to take her son home today or tomorrow.
The Céline Dion-fans are extremely happy with the birth of their idol's son René-Charles. Mother and child are in perfect health. Within the hour the good news spread to all the edges of the globe, Céline Dion mailinglists suddenly received an overload of e-mail. Icq- and SMS-messages where sent, national and international phone-calls were made to spread the good news. Céline Dion may have stepped back from the spotlights, from what we have seen and read her popularity didn't fade, the fans didn't forget her! She's lucky to have such a bunch of faithful fans.

Celine Dion has baby boy; the singer and the baby both doing well.
Singer Celine Dion gave birth to a boy early Thursday, (1 a.m. in Florida) three weeks ahead of the scheduled due date. (CP) LUANN LASALLE
MONTREAL (CP) - Singer Celine Dion gave birth early Thursday in Florida to a boy, Rene-Charles, three weeks ahead of his scheduled due date.
The infant weighed 6 pounds 8 ounces, said a statement from the office of Dion spokeswoman Francine Chaloult. It's the first child for the superstar Quebecer and husband-manager Rene Angelil. Both mother and child are "doing marvellously well and are in perfect health" the statement said. The child was born in hospital.
Claude Lemay, Dion's musical director, said he spoke briefly to Angelil, who described his newborn son as a "beautiful baby."
"You could hear the joy in his voice," Lemay told Radio-Canada's all-news channel, RDI.
Lemay also said he spoke to Dion recently and that she told him her pregnancy was "progressing normally." No details of the birth were immediately available.
Sister Claudette Dion said her sister Linda and Angelil were at the birth.
Claudette said she hopes to travel to Florida soon to see her nephew. She told RDI she didn't know the name of the hospital where he was born and didn't believe the godparents had been chosen yet.
Therese Dion, the entertainer's mother, wasn't in Florida for the birth.
"Unfortunately, she's in France right now, in Paris," Claudette said.
The boy, who wasn't expected until February, was conceived with Angelil through in vitro fertilization at a New York clinic.
"We don't have any additional details," said a spokeswoman in Chaloult office, the Montreal public relations firm that handles Dion's affairs.
Asked when any more information would be available, she said, "I cannot say yet. Maybe tomorrow (Friday). We'll see. We don't know."
There was no information forthcoming from the office of Dion's physician, Dr. Ronald Ackerman, in West Palm Beach, Fla.
"There will be nothing coming from this office," a secretary for Ackerman said.
"Oh my God, he's perfect," an excited Dr. Ronald Ackerman said from his office in West Palm Beach. "He's even turning over, already," he joked. "I swear that I saw him do that." Ackerman was one of five doctors who helped the Quebec singer deliver the infant, who weighed in at six pounds eight ounces.
Ackerman, who has been Dion's doctor for four years, said the baby arrived three weeks ahead of the Valentine's Day due date.

He couldn't even say if she would be breastfeeding the child.
"She's doing everything a mother would normally do with a newborn," Ackerman said.
"He's gorgeous. Everybody's saying the baby looks like both of them, has appearances like both Celine and Rene."

We found a new picture of Céline, she is VERY pregnant, we think this was taken somewhere in December, maybe even early January. Céline is taking a walk near her Florida-home, just by herself...no bodyguards, just the papparazzi :o(

Today René celebrates his 59th birthday:
HAPPY 59th BIRTHDAY RENÉ!!!!
14 January 2001
A new rumour just received us, according to fans on the ATW-mailinglist, the french (canadian?) gossip magazine 'Echos Vedette' claims that Céline was surprised with a baby shower at the house of Donald Trump. The magazine also mentions a (possible??) name for Céline's baby boy. They say it's going to be René-Charles. We only saw the cover of this magazine, so we'll wait to draw any conclusions until we know more about the article that's in the magazine. Well we really doubt the credibility of this article, again don't believe anything until you hear it from Céline and René.
13 January 2001
A couple of days ago (January 11) National Post had an article which has some excerpts from the "Hello Magazine". The article mainly talks about how Céline was the "accident child", and her mother almost went into an abortion, and how Celine owed her life to a local parish priest who convinced Celine's mom not to get rid of the baby. Well we can hardly believe that Céline's mom would ever consider an abortion so we think this story is exaggerated, but if Céline really gave this interview (which we doubt also, since she only granted interviews to Michel Jasmin and Michael Drucker) it must be true, maybe we'll find out later. Here's the article:
'I owe my life to' local priest, Celine Dion says
Siobhan Roberts
National Post
Celine Dion, due to become a mother on Feb. 14, says she owes her life to a local parish priest who convinced her mother not to abort her. "He told her that she had no right to go against nature," said Ms. Dion. "So I have to admit that in a way, I owe my life to that priest." In an interview appearing in the Jan. 16 issue of Hello! magazine, a London celebrity weekly, the singer said her mother, Thérèse Dion, was devastated when she discovered she was pregnant with Celine, her 14th child. "[Next month] you'll become a mother yourself. Yet you were not a wanted child, were you?" Hello! asked in a Q&A. "Destiny is disturbing sometimes," Ms. Dion said. Her determined attempt to conceive a baby with her husband, René Angélil, 59, who had been battling cancer, was successful through in vitro fertilization. Ms. Dion, 32, was said to be relaxing in the seclusion of her home in Jupiter, Fla., where she is awaiting the arrival of her baby boy. "My mother had already brought up 13 children. For more than 20 years, she'd been locked into a hellish cycle of washing, ironing and housework, 365 days a year. She thought, rightly, that she'd done her duty," Ms. Dion said. "The two little ones, twins Paul and Pauline, were about to go to school and at last she'd have some time to herself. At last she'd be able to go out, perhaps go travelling with my father and revisit the area where they were both brought up," she continued. "Then suddenly she was pregnant again. She was so shattered she went to see the parish priest to see if she could do something about it." Once she got over her disappointment that an abortion was out of the question, Ms. Dion told the magazine, her mother didn't waste time on self-pity. "She loved me as passionately as she'd loved the last little ones," she said, adding that her mother named her after a song that was a hit while she was pregnant. "I adore my mother. For me, she is the star of the family. I'll never forget that she was the one who went knocking on René Angélil's door in the first place. I was just a kid. She was the one who wrote my first song. I owe her everything."

Céline is featured in the current issue of 'Hello Magazine' to read the article go to our Cover Girl section.
On the National Post website, there's an interesting article today. It says there are rumors that Céline maybe signing a big contract with Caesar's Palace Hotel, to perform for 40 weeks at its newly built theatre. The Spokeperson for Céline declined the report, and said that they haven't heard anything about it. This is the article:
Vegas hotel offers 40-week stint to dion, report says
Celine Dion is reported to be considering an offer that would see her return to the stage in about 15 months in Las Vegas. The singer, who is expecting her first child next month, is understood to have been sent a contract involving 40 weeks at a newly built 4,000-seat theatre at Caesar's Palace. The singer would perform over a two-year period with tickets expected to reach $125. A spokeswoman for the Las Vegas hotel said Ms. Dion had not responded to the contract offer. "As far as I know, we do not have a completed contract. We expect it to happen, but we don't have it in," said Margaret Kurtz. A spokeswoman for Ms. Dion's office in Montreal denied the report, which first appeared in the Las Vegas Sun. The New York Post also reported yesterday that Ms. Dion was about to sign a major deal with the hotel. "We've never heard of that here, but I can't give you more information for now," said spokeswoman Murielle Blondeau.
10 January 2001
There are reports saying Celine's biography "My Story, My Dream" isn't selling across the border. It also mentions that it isn't selling too well in Canada too. I remember that the book was on the chart at a pretty high position in the first week it released, maybe it didn't do too good after that. National Post says that according to The New York Times, the ballad queen's autobiography is "gathering dust in stores and warehouses" across the United States and booksellers are hard pressed to sell the sizeable first printing of 250,000 copies by HarperCollins. Celine, who is very, very pregnant, declined to do a book tour.
9 January 2001
Although Céline was having her break in 2000, her popularity didn't fade. At the American Music Awards, which hands out awards base on polling of 20,000 records buyers across country, Céline won the award for "Favourite Adult Contemporary Artist", beating out Marc Anthony and Faith Hill. On the other side, Faith Hill beats out Céline, Britney, and Christina, and took away the "Favourite female pop-rock artist".
3 January 2001
Céline is nominated for a Grammy. Today she received the nomination for the category of 'Pop Collaboration with Vocals' for her virtual duet "All The Way" with Frank Sinatra. Matt Serletic is also running in the Producer of the year(Non-classical) category for his work on "I want you to need me" and "The American" of Angie Aparo.

Céline's mother has confirmed that Celine didn't attend Madonna's wedding. Céline will not return to Montréal for Christmas in order to protect the baby. Céline and René will celebrate christmas in their mansion in Palm Beach, Florida with family and friends.
23 December 2000
We now have a christmas wish, a 5 minute part and a 7 minute part of Michel Jasmin's interview in our Multimedia-section.
22 December 2000
We already found it hard to believe when we heard that the press claimed to have seen Céline arriving in Scotland to attend the wedding of Madonna and her fiancé Guy Ritchie. Ofcourse it appears to be untrue, it's very unlikely that Céline will do a lot of traveling in the next two months. They've probably have mistaken somebody else for Céline.
21 December 2000
The interview with Michel Jasmin has given us some new interesting information about Céline and her future. She's wants to name the baby after René, so the name will probably include René. She also said that she wants a second child, there's another frozen embryo waiting for her. She could't live with the thought to forget about this second child.
Céline will wait to make her return to showbizz until her son is a year old. She wants to fully experience the first and most important year of her son's childhood.
She's already thinking about her come-back she plans on recording a new french and a new english album and she plans on doing some things she's never done before. Could that include a movie, maybe? It would be great!
20 December 2000
Celine's interview with Michel Jasmin scored bigtime in the TV ratings. More than 2 million viewers tuned in to watch the program. According to data compiled by Neilsen Media Research, Celine's interview, dubbed "Exclusivement Celine" attracted an estimated 2,206,000 viewers, making it the evening's most watched program by a ratio of two-to-one. The broadcast appears to have bolstered the network's full evening of programming. TVA's "Cinema Des Fetes" which aired after the interview, came in second, with 1,130,000 viewers, followed by TVA's "Un Monde De Fous" which aired just before the Dion interview and attracted 1,114,000 viewers. These ratings only apply to the French language viewers.
15 December 2000
We can now offer you a merry christmas wish from Céline in RealPlayer format! This message was recorded during the shootings for the interview Michael Jasmin held with Céline on December 9. You can download the clip in our multimedia section. Here's the translation in English:
"To all of you who are watching us on Michel Jasmin, I'm taking the opportunity to wish you all a good holiday, a good new year, merry christmas, and especially health, take care! Till next time, bye bye!"

It looks like that Sony UK is going to release some products on Celine's Millennium concert. According to this poster Sony will release the concert on VHS, DVD and CD on January 12 in the UK. We hope so! But then again, you never know when it comes to Sony, so let's hope for the best!
29 November 2000
Well again we have some new pics of a pregnant Céline. On these pics Céline is sunbathing beside the pool in Las Vegas' Caesar's Palace. She is going to get a BIG tummy!! René is probably doing some gambling :o)
28 November 2000
Well, Céline and René are obviously enjoying their time off from showbizz. When we see this pic we wish we were on vacation in a warm place, like Florida in the wintertime, instead of sitting in the cold! Céline sure does seem relaxed, happy, healthy and VERY pregnant! :o)
25 November 2000
A one hour Celine interview with Michel Jasmin will be aired in Canada on Dec 17th at 7.00 p.m. on TVA to promote Céline's new autobiography 'My Story, My Dream'. The interview will take place in Celine's mansion in Florida, and they'll talk about the baby, and Celine's future plans. An interview for France is still unconfirmed but Michel Drucker will probably be the one, and one for the US is still being considered.
24 November 2000
We've found a new picture of a pregnant Céline on the web. It was taken during her vacation on the Bahama's. We like to see that Céline's doing so well, but on the other hand...we hate that the press is following her around.

Not so long ago we reported that the National Enquirer had to make an apology statement to Céline and René in their magazine. This is the article:
Good Luck Celine
WE PUBLISHED an article last January reporting that Celine Dion was pregnant with twins. Our information was wrong and the ENQUIRER regrets any distress the story may have caused Celine or her husband Rene Angelil.
The ENQUIRER and it's readers are thrilled both for Celine and Rene that Celine is now pregnant, as she told her fans last spring, and wish them luck.
The ENQUIRER has made a charitable donation to the American Cancer Society in honor of Celine and Rene.
Celine, 32, and Rene, 58, are expecting a baby boy - on Valentine's Day! Mother and baby are doing well, and both are looking forward to the joys of parenthood.

New rose named for Celine Dion
By Carlo Allegri from 'National Post'
MONTREAL - A Southern Ontario nursery has convinced Celine Dion to endorse a new rose called ... Celine Dion.
The flower is red with orange reflections and a yellow stamen sprouting from the centre. It smells a bit like raspberries, said Daniel Cleroux, owner of a Montreal-area nursery.
J.C. Bakker and Sons, the nursery in St. Catharines, Ont., that bred the plant, spent more than two years trying to win the approval of Dion and her manager-husband, René Angélil. The only other Dion-endorsed product is a line of eyeglasses that hit stores three weeks ago.
Ms. Dion finally agreed when she saw that sale of the roses would also aid a good cause, said Pierre Paquette, owner of the company that will distribute the bushes.
"I told Bakker and Sons it would be a good idea to offer money to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation," Mr. Paquette said.
"Celine Dion had a young niece with cystic fibrosis and I know it's something she cares a lot about."
In return for use of the Dion name, $1 from every rose bush sold will go to the foundation. That could eventually add up. Three thousand of the roses will be sold exclusively in Quebec starting next April. But as Bakker grows more of them, 50,000 are expected to be available at garden centres in the rest of Canada and the United States by 2002.
"I had one in my garden this year, just to test it, and I was very impressed," said Mr. Cleroux. "But I didn't know then it was a Celine Dion rose bush."
And like its mom-to-be namesake, the Celine Dion is also multiplying.
A hybrid of two common breeds -- the Tropicana and the Fifth Avenue -- it has gone from a single rose bush in 1993 to several hundred so far. The 3,000 that will be available in Quebec next spring will be scooped up in no time, Mr. Cleroux predicted. "Celine Dion has so many fans and the flower will be just as popular. I'm sure there will be quite a buzz and because there are so few of them, people will want to have one."

Well we suppose that when it's in the biography it must be true! Congratulations Céline and René!!! We've heard that Céline is very busy at the moment to learn Spanish!
