AGAINST THE ODDS

BY Jon Nicholson & Maurice Hamilton

This book is about Jordan Grand prix’s 1998 season and there is plenty of inside inf. and behind the scene bits with team. There is also a lot about Ralf and Damon Hill. There are plenty of fantastic pictures and some really good ones of Ralf. Here is a bit from the book to get your money going!: Ralf had been visiting a sports psychologist and Mark Gallagher, a member of Jordan’s sponsorship management team, had been one of the first to notice the difference. Gallagher had been quietly amazed by Schumacher when entertaining guests of Hewlett Packard while in Australia for the first race of the season. In 1997, Schumacher had been the second choice for tasks such as this, Gallagher preferring to use Giancarlo Fisichella, the Italian’s sunny disposition making a stark contrast with his team mates tendency to the monosyllabic. In Melbourne, however, Ralf was the star of the evening as he gave an informal talk. And it was one thing having a driver present, quite another when he discussed life with his superstar brother. Ralf told his audience that he and Michael had stopped in Sydney for a few days without realising that their visit coincided with the gay Mardi Gras. ‘ a number of men were looking at us’ said Ralf ‘And then we realised it wasn’t because we were famous racing drivers…’ Such dry humour would have been unheard of six monthes before.
